Jamie Vardy is at the King Power Stadium today.

The striker, nine goals in 21 Premier League starts this season, has been glowering in the tunnel, chewing the life out of some gum as he watches the two teams warm up.

Islam Slimani, his replacement, is yet to score in 12 Premier League appearances this season. Slight caveat: only two of those have been from the start.

Today is the completion of a remarkable journey for Joe Lolley.

Five years ago, the Huddersfield winger, now 25, was playing university football for University of Central Lancashire.

Now via non-League Littleton, Kidderminster, a January 2014 move to Huddersfield and a couple of appearances off the bench in the last two home games, he is making his first Premier League start.

"In the last few weeks I have been given an opportunity and hopefully I have shown enough in the few cameos I have had to stay around the squad and try to get more minutes on the pitch," he said earlier this week.

I'm glad they deadlines are not as strictly enforced at school as they are by Fifa.

Leicester were just 14 seconds late with the paperwork for Adrien Silva's £22m move in August. But the sport's world governing body were not budging.

The 28-year-old has been training, but not playing for the last four months.

And Leicester seem to have given him an appropriate squad number to mark his belated appearance in a matchday squad.

Leicester go into 2018 on the back of one point from their last four Premier League fixtures, while Huddersfield's four-match unbeaten run means they come into this match just three points behind the Foxes.

It finished 1-1 when these sides met in Yorkshire back in September, and it wouldn't be a major surprise if it finished all square again.

No Jamie Vardy for Leicester, who bring in Islam Slimani who makes only his second Premier League start of the season for the Foxes. Vardy apparently has a groin tweak.

Adrien Silva is among the substitutes after belatedly completing his £22m move from Sporting Lisbon on Monday.

Demarai Gray is on the bench with Shinji Okazaki given a chance from the start while Vicente Iborra gives way to Matty James in midfield.

Huddersfield make five changes from the side that drew 0-0 with Burnley last time out. Steve Mounie is back in up front in place of Laurent Depoitre while Tommy Smith comes into the defence in place of Florent Hadergjonaj.

Elsewhere Chris Lowe, Joe Lolley and Danny Williams replace Scott Malone, Jonathan Hogg and Colin Quaner.
