  6. Games off in Livingston and Cowdenbeathpublished at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2017

While Caley Thistle were desperate for their match against Queen of the South to be postponed after that horrendous journey yesterday, Championship rivals Livingston and Falkirk were trying to ensure that their game survived the elements.

Unfortunately, Livingston's pitch, affected by overnight frost, failed a second inspection of the day at 13:30 and the match has been called off.

Early this morning, a frozen pitch forced off the League Two game between bottom side Cowdenbeath and fifth-placed visitors Stenhousemuir.

Queen of the South v Inverness Caledonian Thistle (15:00)

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Robertson could be waiting to hear how last night's troubled journey affected his players before naming his starting line-up for today's Championship match against Queen of the South.

A road traffic accident on the A9 meant the team bus's 233 mile journey to Dumfries, which would normally take about five hours, turned into a 14-hour marathon yesterday.

They finally reached their hotel at three in the morning and their subsequent request to have the fixture abandoned was turned down by the Scottish Professional Football League.

  10. Premiership jostlingpublished at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2017

Elsewhere in the Premiership, the jostling is all very much about league points.

Hibernian travel to face Partick Thistle hoping for a victory that would lift them above Rangers into third place, one point behind Aberdeen, while the hosts will be aiming for a win that could take them off the bottom.

St Johnstone entertain Kilmarnock hoping to narrow the five-point gap between themselves and Motherwell should the fifth-top side slip up at Celtic Park.

If Saints themselves fail to win, Hearts and Hamilton Academical will have designs on overtaking the Perth side as they come face to face at Tynecastle.

Ninth-placed Ross County are a further points behind Hamilton and will be out to ensure that second-bottom visitors Dundee don't secure the win that would result in them being tied on 15 points.

  11. Whatever next for Celts and Well?published at 13:52 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2017

    Celtic v Motherwell (15:00)

The fact that Celtic can extend their lead at the top of the Premiership to seven points over Aberdeen, having played the same number of games, seems to be almost incidental given the war of words between the two camps as we approach their third meeting in a incident-filled week.

It all began with Motherwell defending their style after Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers criticised an aggressive style in light of Rangers' Fabio Cardoso being left with a broken nose after the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

Following Celtic's 2-0 win in the final and late equaliser in Wednesday's 1-1 league draw at Fir Park, Motherwell have sought clarification from the Scottish FA's head of refereeing over two crucial penalty awards they found debatable.

Callum McGregor won a penalty after going down under Andy Rose's challenge

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has again defended the honesty of his players after allegations that Scott Sinclair and then Callum McGregor had gone down easily to win those spot kicks.

Meanwhile, Celtic captain Scott Brown has appealed for more protection from fans throwing coins on to the pitch, claiming he was targeted at Fir Park.

You can't imagine today's rematch being controversy free.

  12. Celtic v Motherwell top bill - againpublished at 13:45

It's the final part of Scottish football's latest blockbuster trilogy.

In "Celtic Vs Motherwell III - The saga continues", Stephen Robinson's fallen Hampden heroes get a second chance to gain revenge over Brendan Rodgers' all-conquering invincibles.

Two controversial penalties helped Celtic on their way to retaining the Scottish League Cup at the national stadium on Sunday and extending their unbeaten domestic run to 66 games after Wednesday's Scottish Premiership draw at Fir Park.

Today, Robinson takes his aggrieved troops on an even more potentially treacherous trip to Celtic Park - a quest for league points on the league champions' own patch.

With the Aberdeen versus Rangers sequel not taking place until tomorrow, today's other four Premiership games are relegated to B movie status.

But that doesn't mean we will neglect them as we follow the action around the grounds, including updates from some big matches in the Championship, League One and League Two.
