  4. FULL-TIMEpublished at 18:54 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2017

    Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

A heroic effort from Al Jazira. The team from the UAE can walk away with their heads held high after a brilliant performance. Had their second goal not been disallowed for offside the result may well have been different.

They certainly gave their more illustrious opponents a fright.

For Real Madrid, on to Sunday's final with Gremio. A few training sessions to work on their finishing might be advisable.

An instant impact from the Wales international.

A fine team move sees the ball is cut back by Lucas Vazquez for Bale and his low shot beats Khaled Al-Senani. Cristiano Ronaldo rather cheekily attempts to pinch the goal with a flick of his foot, but it definitely belongs to Bale.

Surely there is no way back fro Al Jazira from here?

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Still backs-to-the-wall stuff from Al Jazira with around 10 minutes to go. Even if they ultimately end up losing this game it will have been a heroic effort to hold Real Madrid for so long.

  11. Postpublished at 74 min

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Substitute Marco Asensio the latest to try his hand from distance for Real Madrid with a well-struck curling effort which goes just past the top corner.

At the other end of the pitch Al Jazira hit on the counter attack but Ahmed Rabee is denied a shooting chance as Nacho snuffs out the danger.

Real have had 29 shots in this game - 10 on target. Al Jazira have managed four - with just one, the goal, on target.

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid have been a little cavalier at times here. There have been chances on the counter attack for Al Jazira. Romarinho scampers away but running out of steam he strikes a powerful shot from distance which hits the side netting.

Karim Benzema creates a shooting chance and strikes the crossbar with a curling effort. Real are turning the screw.

  15. Postpublished at 63 min

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

A wonderful block from Khaled Al-Senani to deny Karim Benzema at the near post. The replacement goalkeeper will have taken a lot of confidence from that.

Al Jazira goalkeeping coach Manuel Almunia has earned his corn here.

  16. Postpublished at 59 min

    Al Jazira 1-1 Real Madrid

Karim Benzema with a daisy cutter which is parried by Khaled Al-Senani. Moments later a teasing ball is sent into the penalty area but nobody in a Real shirt is able to get a touch.

Approaching the hour mark and Al Jazira are like a boxer on the ropes here. Real will surely deliver that knockout blow in the next 30 minutes.

    Cristiano Ronaldo

Almost inevitably Khaled Al-Senani's first job is to pick the ball out of the net. A superb through ball from Luka Modric finds Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portugal forward shows his world-class finishing skills as he beats Al Jazira's offside trap and then angles a shot past Al-Senani's despairing dive and into the corner of the net. Clinical.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 50 min

Now this really is a turning point. After a quite brilliant performance injured Ali Khasif cannot continue and is replaced by the mustachioed Khaled Al-Senani.

    Al Jazira 1-0 Real Madrid

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2017

    Al Jazira 1-0 Real Madrid

We are back under way at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

The good news for Al Jazira is that goalkeeper Ali Khasif is coming back out for the second half. After his heroics in the first half there was no way he was missing this one.

Al Jazira's players all say a prayer on pitch before kick-off. Might take some divine intervention to prevent Real from scoring.
