  5. 'Team issue for Paul Lambert'published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2018

They invested in the summer in two defensive players - Kurt Zouma and Kevin Wimmer - so they highlighted the defensive problem in the off season, but when you look at them against Manchester United on Monday night I think it's a team issue. It's not just individual errors, they need to be much harder to beat.

Have Huddersfield finally found their no.10?

The Terriers have surprised many in their first season in the Premier League but while they have pulled off some impressive wins, they really do struggle to create chances.

Pritchard was one of the best creators in the Championship and all eyes will be on him to unlock the Potters' defence.

Stoke created several chances at Old Trafford on Monday. Stephen Ireland put two shots wide, showing an expected rustiness in his first Premier League start in almost 1,000 days. Xherdan Shaqiri saw a near-perfect shot miraculously saved by De Gea.

Although they lost 3-0, there was actually much for new boss Paul Lambert to be positive about in an attacking sense. Defence, however, is a very different matter.

Stoke have been as flimsy as a wet paper bag and have now conceded the most goals in Europe's top five leagues.

Huddersfield are looking for their first win in six to maintain a cushion above the relegation zone.

Chelsea have made contact with Stoke about signing veteran striker Peter Crouch but no deal is imminent, BBC Sport understands.

Blues boss Antonio Conte wants to bring in a striker, which would allow Michy Batshuayi to leave the club this month.

West Ham's Andy Carroll was an option but that avenue has been closed by the ankle injury that will keep him out for at least a month and possibly longer.

Former Liverpool striker Crouch, 36, is out of contract at Stoke this summer.

  10. Massive game?published at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2018

    Stoke v Huddersfield (15:00 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder on BBC 5 live

Stoke's season starts here. Against Manchester United I saw signs of goals, they were positive going forwards and they had chances.

The fans were positive and that will have an impact on their season too.

Paul Lambert has no doubts about the safety of Stoke in the Premier League

Paul Lambert really did not expect to get this gig, honestly.

He told Football Focus earlier today about how shocked he was, but has no doubt that he can keep the club in the Premier League.

This game is as big as they come for both sides. Stoke are in the relegation zone, one point from safety, while Huddersfield are on a bad run. If the Terriers lose today then Stoke will only be one point behind them.

At the turn of the year, Paul Lambert probably expected to be filling his Saturdays reading the newspapers in a coffee shop or having a wander around the local farm shop.

What he probably did not expect to be doing is managing Stoke City in the Premier League.

His appointment took everyone - including himself - by surprise.

But could the unexpected appointment turn out to be Stoke's unexpected hero?
