Accies win the Lanarkshire derby to leave Motherwell nursing a headache of nine games without a win.
Hamilton move to within a point of their neighbours in the Premiership table.
Accies' first win in eight derbies has dragged Well into the relegation battle.
Dougie Imrie scored for Hamilton at Fir Park
Kilmarnock extend their unbeaten run to six games as Hibs are again left frustrated despite dominating possession.
Kris Boyd scored his sixth goal in six games to open the scoring.
It could have sent them on their way to victory if goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald's mistake had not handed Ali Shaw the equaliser.

A fine three points in the end for Dundee, but Richard Foster’s red card cost St Johnstone.
The Perth side are without a home win since the 23 September.
Marcus Haber put Dundee into the lead in Perth
Aberdeen 0-0 Heart of Midlothian
Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty is shown a red card for a challenge on Graeme Shinnie.
It was a cynical challenge, but it looked a bit harsh on the Northern Irishman.

Superb goal from Connor Sammon. The striker links with Andrew McCarthy, who plays a brilliantly-weighted pass in behind the County defence.
Sammon races on to it, cuts inside on to his right foot and slots past goalkeeper Scott Fox.
A-Jay Leitch-Smith
A-Jay Leitch-Smith drives at the St Johnstone defence and fires superbly into the top corner for Dundee's second.
Conor Sammon
Conor Sammon fires just his second goal of the season to surely send Ross County bottom of the Scottish Premiership.
Aberdeen 0-0 Heart of Midlothian
Another chance for Hearts, but the ball bobbles in front of Isma and the striker sends his effort wide,

St Johnstone went back three as they attempt to get something from this match and it certainly gave a much greater attacking impetus.
But have Dundee drawn the sting from St Johnstone? It looks that way with Faissal El Bakhtaoui hitting the post and increasingly it looks a case of Dundee making the chances and keeping the ball.
Michael O’Halloran - in his last match for St Johnstone before returning to Rangers - does remain a threat but Dundee are on course for a big three points here.
George Oakley
A second goal from substitute George Oakley puts Caley Thistle ahead despite the visitors having been reduced to 10 men.
Greg Docherty
That could be the winner for Accies as Greg Docherty picks up the ball just inside the Well half, sets off towards goal and beats two men before drilling a shot into the bottom corner.
Hibernian 1-1 Kilmarnock
John McGinn rasps a thunderous drive off the Killie crossbar from 25 yards as Hibs continue to press for a second goal.
St Johnstone 0-1 Dundee
Faissal El Bakhtaoui is on in place of Scott Allan for Dundee and the substitute tests goalkeeper Zander Clark from the left edge of the box.
Aberdeen 0-0 Heart of Midlothian
A Hearts breakaway and Harry Cochrane curls a shot from the edge of the area just wide.
Aberdeen 0-0 Heart of Midlothian
The pressure is building for Aberdeen as Scott McKenna heads Greg Stewart's free kick wide.
Brechin City 2-2 Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Caley Thistle defender Carl Tremarco is sent off after picking up a second yellow card.
Great chance now for Brechin to get that first league win of the season.

Thistle still edging this, but they are by no means comfortable with such a slender lead.
County have had the bulk of possession throughout, but Tomas Cerny is yet to make a meaningful save in the home goal.
As things stand, the visitors will spend the winter break bottom of the table.
Hibernian 1-1 Kilmarnock
Hibs goalscorer Oli Shaw goes close with a header from point-blank range at the near post, but Killie manage to block away.
George Oakley
George Oakley is only on the park a matter of 30 seconds and the Caley Thistle substitute fires the equaliser - his fourth goal of the season.
