  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Level pegging at half-time, despite a flurry of Wolves chances early on and some good efforts from Brentford at the other end.

Leo Bonatini whacked the post in the first few minutes, while Daniel Bentley has been key to denying the hosts.

Brentford will be happy though, they've frustrated the high-fliers.

  2. goal

GOAL: Fulham 0-1 Ipswichpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Joe Garner (45 mins)

Fulham v IpswichImage source, Rex Features

Charmed life?! I think they've put a hex on the Putney Road boys, as Ipswich have somehow come away with a goal from a first half in which they were peppered.

Martyn Waghorn swung in a beast of an inswinger, defenders were frozen by panic, Marcus Bettinelli looked all at sea and Joe Garner pounced.

Bettinelli stayed down for treatment after. Injury to insult.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Fulham 0-0 Ipswich

Ipswich are living what you might call a charmed life. Fulham are doing everything but score.

Neeskens Kebano sent a delicious ball into the box, begging to be buried, but once again Aboubakar Kamara is unable to connect.

    Still. Goalless. Somehow.

Grant Ward, who has had a fair bit of treatment in this first half, goes off early to be replaced by Freddie Sears just before the break.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Wolves v BrentfordImage source, Rex Features

Daniel Bentley has been in inspired form here tonight, and showed just how good he is with a stunning stop to deny Diogo Jota's fizzing strike from the edge of the box.

    Strong wrists.

It's going to take something special for Wolves to crack the Bees nut you feel.

  5. goal

GOAL: Reading 0-1 Birminghampublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Jacques Maghoma (24 mins)

Well, well, well. Birmingham put the pressure on big time at the Madjeski with a crucial goal - and a well-worked one too.

Saturday's hero against Leeds, Jacques Maghoma, is the man on the spot, lashing in ferociously from close range after Craig Gardner's deep free-kick caused panic.

Big goal for the bottom side, who won't be at the foot much longer.

  6. CLOSE!published at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Brentford have a great opportunity to upset the high-flying hosts as Yoann Barbet gets up but his header just edges wide.

Some fans I think thought that was in. It just slipped wide.

Not having it all their own way, are the league leaders.

  7. Postpublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Fulham 0-0 Ipswich

Ipswich v FulhamImage source, Rex Features

Having had so many chances and still not scored, Fulham are always in danger of being sucker-punched and they might have been just then, were it not for Martyn Waghorn's wayward finish.

The home fans thought he'd strayed... the referee's assistant didn't. His miss made it redundant.

Meanwhile, Fulham have brought off Floyd Ayite and sent on Neeskens Kebano. Two things I love. Johan Neeskens and Kebanos [or is Kabanos?].

  8. Postpublished at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Reading 0-0 Birmingham

We talked about Steve Cotterill being a very passionate man earlier - and it seems like he's managed to instill some of that in his players. Perhaps a little too much.

Craig Gardner has been warned by referee James Linington for hacking down Yann Kermorgant and then Harlee Dean blocks off Sone Aluko.

Jeremie Boga is one of their bright spots though, and his shot forced a corner but it came to nothing.

  9. Postpublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Don't be fooled by the Wolves chances, Brentford are a threat when they get the ball in good areas and showed just that on a couple of occasions.

Kamohelo Mokotjo has had a couple of digs from range, just won a corner from one such effort. Sergi Canos sent one screaming wide of the post too. It's not a formality this, by any means.

  10. Postpublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Reading 0-0 Birmingham

    Reading v BirminghamImage source, Empics

David Stockdale is certainly earning his post-match pizza tonight for Birmingham. He pulled off a fine save from Chris Gunter's edge-of-the-box fierce drive to keep his side level.

Feisty stuff from the home side who are desperate to end their winless run, against the beleaguered Blues.

  11. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

We've seen some ambitious free-kicks at Molineux tonight. To be fair, there's enough quality on the pitch to suggest that shots from range are worth a pop, but neither Barry Douglas of Wolves nor Yoann Barbet in the Brentford colours have been able to do much with them.

Daniel Bentley makes a brilliant save as Helder Costa was put through down the middle, and Diogo Jota could not capitalise as the keeper recovers for the second bite.

  12. Postpublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Fulham 0-0 Ipswich

Further chances for the Cottagers, Stefan Johansen saw another curling effort turned away by Bartosz Bialkowski to frustrate the home support, and a Sheyi Ojo shot also crept wide.

The pressure has been ratcheted up on the visitors.

  13. Postpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Reading 0-0 Birmingham

Both teams have had a glimmer of a chance in the early stages.

Mo Barrow gave it some welly from the left side and David Stockdale does well to beat it away from danger. Then Yann Kermorgant's effort skied over from the resulting corner.

Birmingham's best effort came from Jeremie Boga, who saw his shot blocked in the box early on.

  14. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Fulham 0-0 Ipswich

Somehow still goalless between these two sides in midtable but on the cusp of the play-offs.

Ipswich have been on the defensive as Floyd Ayite went close a couple of times, while Sheyi Ojo also had a shot deflected to safety.

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

    Matt DohertyImage source, Rex Features

Fair to say Wolves are hitting their stride now.

Daniel Bentley had to rush off his line to deny Wolves full-back Matt Doherty. Super save.

You sense a goal is coming...

  16. CLOSE!published at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Another big chance for Wolves, as a corner into the mix is bundled off the line by Nico Yennaris! Diogo Jota got his noggin on it.

Then Lasse Vibe gets a little sighter on the break, but it's blocked.

    Lively.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Reading 0-0 Birmingham

All three under way now. Game on.

  18. Blues find a glimmer of beliefpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Reading v Birmingham (20:00 BST)

    Steve CotterillImage source, Getty Images

Steve Cotterill is one of football's warriors and he will need all of that passion and inspiration to get Birmingham out of their predicament.

Saturday's win against Leeds ended a run of seven games without a win, and gave them some renewed hope.

Victory tonight would see them leapfrog Sunderland, and off the bottom of the table. What a psychological boost that would be?

  19. Postpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Brentford have an opportunity to press, and it's their delicious one and two-touch football which creates it.

Some excellent football gets it out to the tricky Ollie Watkins, who sends a ball into that corridor of uncertainty, to borrow a cricket expression, but no-one can get on it.

    Chance.

  20. Stam desperate for Royals revivalpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2018

    Reading v Birmingham (20:00 BST)

    Jaap StamImage source, Getty Images

No win in five for pre-season promotion hopefuls Reading has been tough to take for Jaap Stam, who have found the going tough after last season's Play-off final defeat by Huddersfield.

They're currently 18th in the table, not where they expected to be.

The odds will be on their side tonight against the struggling Blues at the foot of the table, but not by much given their own troubles.
