A new record attendance is due to be set at Meadow Lane this afternoon as Notts County meet Crewe in League Two.

The Magpies have sold out the game following a bumper offer from owner Alan Hardy of just £2 a ticket as his thank you to the City since he took over the club.

A crowd of just above 17,500 will set a new record since the ground went all-seater in the mid-1990s.

County are doing pretty well on the pitch as well, with Kevin Nolan taking the club into the top three in the division as well as keeping them in the hat for the FA Cup fifth round as they prepare to face Premier League Swansea in a fourth round replay next week.

Tim Cahill rejoins MillwallImage source, PA

#TheReturn has been pumped out of the social media channels at Millwall all this week after a club legend returned to the New Den.

But, Tim Cahill still needs to get some mileage in his legs before he pulls on a Millwall shirt again and aid his bid to represent Australia at a fourth World Cup this summer.

"The Championship is the biggest test outside of the Premier League," the 38-year-old told BBC Radio London.

"I had to make a decision for football reasons to test myself at the highest level possible at my age before a World Cup."

The Sydney-born forward is his country's record scorer with 50 goals in 104 appearances, and could join a select band of players to have scored at four World Cups if he is named in Bert van Marwijk's squad for Russia 2018.

Only Brazilian great Pele and Germany striker Uwe Seeler, who both achieved the feat from 1958 to 1970, and Germany's Miroslav Klose, the tournament's all-time leading scorer, between 2002 and 2014, have done so.

But, he'll have to watch from the stands this afternoon as his new Lions team-mates take on Reading without him.

The omens might be good for a much-needed home win today with Ipswich having not tasted victory on Wearside since August 1989.

That was so long ago, it came back at Roker Park before the Stadium of Light was even thought of.

Leeds had won four in a row before this current slump, but manager Thomas Christiansen is very much a man under pressure as his side sit four points off the play-offs.

Cardiff know how a form slump feels after they had a nightmare festive season with four successive defeats, but today's game presents an opportunity to close the gap on the top two and with a game in hand on nearest challengers Aston Villa and Derby.

Midweek signing Gary Madine will make his debut up top after completing his £6m move from Bolton.

Aleksandar Mitrovic and Cyrus Christie arrived this week before the transfer deadline to further boost their resources and play-off prospects.

Steve Bruce's men left it late for the fifth win on Tuesday night as Robert Snodgrass' sumptuous curling strike stole all three points against Sheffield United, external and Villa will fancy making it six today against basement club Burton.

A familiar face will be back for the visitors as on loan striker Darren Bent looks set to lead the line for the Brewers.

  14. Rams look to restore scoring touchpublished at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2018

Derby County v Brentford (15:00 GMT)

    Derby frustrationImage source, PA

Two games, two goalless draws have been the frustrating tale for Derby in the past two matches.

But their unbeaten league run stands at 10 games stretching back to the end of November as they cling on to a place in the top two.

With an in-form Aston Villa breathing down their necks, the visit of Brentford this afternoon could pose a tricky test for Gary Rowett's side.

Lasse Vibe is unlikely to feature for the Bees as he negotiates a move to an unnamed Chinese Super League club and if the visitors are to take all three points today, it would be their first league victory in Derby since February 1939.
