Julian Gold: Not a Vardy day so much as a VAR-day?

    That's gold from Gold.

Joe, Leicester: I don’t like video umpires in cricket, or video referees in rugby and I certainly can’t see how VAR will improve football. It will be too heavily relied upon because, and it always boils down to it, it isn’t a sport it’s a business. Money money money.

It did sort of improve it tonight, didn't it?

    Matthew Upson
Former West Ham and England defender on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

I have to say, Shrewsbury have been excellent tonight. No matter what the result is tonight, this is only going to give them confidence playing like this here in this stadium. I can see why they're doing so well in League One and this will give them the confidence to carry on for the rest of the season.

Kenneth Field: I demand a retrospective VAR on Roger Milford's decisions in the 1991 FA Cup final.

Ben Ingram: So VAR works, who knew? It’s not like the technology has been around like, for ever! Or, like there has been any big tournament decisions that cost anyone in the past?

Chris Wimslow: Tonight’s VAR use highlights a major issue with it - linesmen will just rely on it. Even if a player is half a yard onside, they’ll flag and refer to VAR to be on the safe side. We’re going to see it 15-20 times a game.

Okay, so not everyone's sold on it, but it certainly seems like quite a few of you have changed your minds on VAR use in football tonight...

There we go! Reece Burke has his first goal for West Ham and it's a belter too, the defender meets a cross on the half volley and crunches it in off the underside of the bar!

    A superb hit.

Joel Murray: Fine, the atmosphere was killed and the goal is an anti-climax, but it’s better to have the right decision when it is so tight and the technology is there.

Alastair Hastings: DRS works fine in Cricket, I can't believe football has waited so long - VAR is the future.
