    Swansea 8-1 Notts County

    Swansea City

Swansea’s Nathan Dyer, speaking on BBC One: “The manager said from the start that he wanted to go out and start quickly especially after the draw in the first leg and we managed to do that today.

“We showed people can get on the scoresheet from all over the pitch. We worked hard on the training ground, not only the strikers and attackers getting forward. Overall, it was a good performance."

  4. 'One of those games'published at 22:24 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    Swansea 8-1 Notts County

Notts County manager Kevin Nolan, speaking on BBC One: “I don’t think they deserved to be 8-1, but it is one of those games where their finishing was Premier League standard. If you give them opportunities they are going to punish us, of 14 shots on target and eight have gone in.

“We need to concentrate on what is important, which is the league. We need to take this hit and keep smiling.

“Coming to a Premier League team you need to hope some of their players take it easy and your players are on top form and that gulf in class comes closer, but some of our players maybe froze and did not react to the same standard as the rest of the season.

“We could have scored three or four, but Swansea were fantastic and did a professional job.”

  5. 'Attitude of the players made all the difference'published at 22:21 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    Swansea 8-1 Notts County

    Swansea City

Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal, speaking on BBC One: "It is important if it is the best result in the history, but the most important thing is the attitude of the players that made all the difference. I spoke to them before the game that we have a challenge tonight.

"I am very proud of the players as they accepted the challenge. They made Notts County look like they are not a good team, but they are a good team. But we the way we played made the difference, the attitude was fantastic.

"We also finished the game with three boys from the academy and we never know if we will need them during the season."

    Andy Townsend
Ex-Republic of Ireland international on BBC Radio 5 live

It’s never easy in a cup tie being the team expected to win, especially when you go behind.

For five minutes or so you can be rattled, but they kept going, kept believing and found their goals.

The home fans were starting to get up and go even before Tom Ince's well taken fourth goal, tucked just inside the post.

Now they're streaming out - and the final minutes will be played out with all the atmosphere of a training session.

It might seem in the end like an unflattering shoreline for the hosts, who did after all take the lead, but, in reality, Huddersfield had enough chances to have reached this scoreline in normal time. Maybe this result - and the chance of a rematch with a Man United side they have already beaten once at home this season - will have a positive spin off on their league form?

  13. CLOSE!published at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    Birmingham 1-4 Huddersfield

Almost a brilliant second second for Tom Ince as Aaron Mooy's superb crossfield ball is knocked down by Sean Scannell and Ince shoots first time, volleying just wide.

Four minutes remaining, although plenty of Birmingham fans made for the exits a long time ago.

    Birmingham 1-4 Huddersfield

    Andy Townsend
Ex-Republic of Ireland international on BBC Radio 5 live

I think Tom’s got a bit to do physically, but it is interesting seeing the elements to his game today. He’s been determined and the catalyst for his side, deserved his goal.

He’s young and still got time to develop.

  16. Postpublished at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    Birmingham 1-4 Huddersfield

Tom Ince has been brilliant since moving into the no.10 role for Huddersfield, creating chances and getting a goal. This will be a much-needed result for the Terriers after recent losses.
