Real Madrid are the only side to ever successfully defend the Champions League - and are trying to make it three in a row this season.

But after winning the La Liga-European Cup double last season, they have completely collapsed this year.

They are fourth in the league table, 17 points behind leaders Barcelona.

The feeling is that Zinedine Zidane, who led them to their back-to-back crowns in his first two years in charge, needs a good Champions League run to save his job (and Real's season).

Real Madrid v PSG (19:45 GMT)

The tie of the last 16? Probably one of the ties of any Champions League last 16 round.

    The past versus the present/future?

Both managers' futures on the line? Maybe even the legacy of each club too?

This game could hardly have more riding on it.

  7. 'Playing surface could work against Liverpool'published at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2018

    Porto v Liverpool (19:45 GMT)

    Alan Green
BBC Radio 5 live at Estadio do Dragao

It’s interesting to talk to local people who think that the adverse weather in Porto will actually suit Liverpool.

I would disagree. If the playing surface is as rough as I have been told I think it will work against Liverpool in terms of their speed of movement and their technically highly gifted players up front.

Porto have played well domestically this season; 24 games without defeat in all competitions. Nevertheless Porto have had a less than electrifying group phase finishing behind Besiktas. I think if Liverpool score first they will not lose the game.

There is live commentary on BBC Radio 5 live, available on this page, and the build-up has already started.

Let's just build up to what should be a fantastic night of football.

FC Porto v Liverpool should be a good game, plus Real Madrid v Paris St-Germain *drools*.
