Also looking to progress to the FA Cup quarter-finals tonight are Leicester and Championship side Sheffield United.

The two sides meet at the King Power Stadium, with Riyad Mahrez set to start following the end of his self-imposed exile.

Mahrez was AWOL from training after failing to secure a deadline day move to Manchester City, but returned to the squad at the weekend as he came off the bench against Pep Guardiola's side.

"He has come back with a smile," says Leicester boss Claude Puel. "The story is behind him - all the players want to move on.

"It is important to put an end to the talking about Riyad. He came back to the game at Manchester City. We need to move on, for him he needs to kick on, like the team the most important thing is in front of us."

And Hull boss Nigel Adkins could do with a bit of FA Cup magic as well.

The Tigers are facing the prospect of a second successive relegation following their drop from the Premier League last season.

They are also without 12 first-team players for tonight's game because of injury, suspension and ineligibility.

"We need the magic of the FA Cup and we'll need a lot of it," said Adkins.

"We're going up against a top side with an excellent manager and players who are used to winning things. They'll see this competition as an opportunity to go and win another trophy. We're going there under no illusions about the challenge in front of us."

For Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, the FA Cup is more than just a distraction from his side's league and Champions League aims, it could be the competition that saves his job.

The reigning Premier League champions are currently clinging on to a place in the top four, while in Europe they face arguably the toughest assignment of all clubs involved with a two-legged last-16 tie with Barcelona.

Come the end of March and the FA Cup could be the only thing to save a difficult season for the Italian.

But a surprise defeat to struggling Championship opposition tonight won't do his long-term job prospects any good at all.

The magic of the FA Cup.

We hear a lot about it, and often it's reserved for the times when an unfancied non-league team pulls off a bit of an upset.

But I'm guessing there are at least a couple of people at Stamford Bridge tonight who will be hoping to see more magic than a 24 hour Penn & Teller gig in Las Vegas...
