England are next in action on 6 April when they play Women's World Cup Qualifying Group One leaders Wales in Southampton.

The Lionesses have won their opening three qualifying matches and are trying to secure their place at the main competition in France next year.

England coach Phil Neville: "It was tough, but probably the most enjoyable game for me in the tournament because we came up against a really good team. I said before I wanted us to go toe-to-toe but in the first half we did not show enough belief. But we showed courage on the ball in the last 30 minutes and I learnt a lot about my players.

"It is not now that I want to win tournaments but in 12 month’s time.

"The own goals? That’s not something I’m happy about – look at the goals against France and Germany plus the one against the USA – that’s four goals conceded by handing them on a plate – if we can eradicate that we can go toe-to-toe with the best in world.

"Overall I’m satisfied – we will keep our feet on the ground but we have started a journey and we have started really well."

England were very well organised and created chances. I thought Ellen White had equalised. But that’s two sloppy defensive goals they've conceded.

They'll look at this game and reflect and think what do we have to improve on to beat the world champions - it'll be defensive errors.

Just think about the players England are missing too. Without those players, they have still managed to compete with some of the best teams in the world.

I think England have to be proud of themselves and what they have achieved in this tournament. It is their best ever finish. Their performance against France was excellent, their resilience against Germany and at times, they created against USA tonight.

Positive for England moving forward.

USA are the SheBelieves Cup champions. England gave it everything at the end but it wasn't enough.

The Lionesses finish the tournament as runners-up with one win, one draw and one defeat.

USA try to run down the clock as Lynn Williams replaces Mallory Pugh.

Before that free-kick was taken, Hannah Blundell came on for Demi Stokes to make her England debut.

We all thought it was in. It was a really well worked free-kick. She does well to get that header in. It's a great header, she glides the ball. I don’t know how it hasn’t gone in. Everything was perfect except it didn't go in.

HOW!? Ellen White thought she had scored but her header bounces off the inside of the post and deflects out off a USA defender...

Inches away.

In the end, Carli Lloyd makes a thumping tackle on Izzy Christiansen - leaving the midfielder slightly winded - and England have a free-kick on the right-hand side of the area.

Rachel Daly wins a corner for England but again they play it short.

We haven't seen much of Carli Lloyd but she is always a threat and she times her jump well - heading just inches over the bar.

Keira Walsh takes too long on the ball again and it's knicked off her in midfield. England are able to get it clear and they look to break with Ellen White.

Savannah McCaskill is on for Megan Rapinoe. That will be a pleasant sight for England. Rapinoe has been excellent down the left-hand side for the USA.
