  1. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Swansea 1-0 West Ham

How on earth does it stay out here?

The corner is not cleared, then Cheikhou Kouyate's header puts his side in even more danger.

Federico Fernandez and Mike van der Hoorn are on hand to try and prod beyond Adrian, who makes himself big, and Declan Rice blocks on the line as it eventually gets past the keeper.

Winston Reid is down - he was hurt in the chaos.

Ki Seung-yueng is clipped down by Mark Noble on his way past the West Ham captain. Alfie Mawson's substantial presence jostles for space in the area.

Ki float in to the back post - Federico Fernandez knocks it back across and into danger, Adrian has to scramble behind.

Men behind the ball, they're letting West Ham having it for now, Swansea.

And the Hammers are pretty much doing nothing with it.

    Swansea 1-0 West Ham

You've got to say that is a really soft goal for the Hammers to concede - and so early in the game.

Swansea are now level on points with the away side - up to 15th in the table as it stands.

More pressure from Sam Clucas on Pablo Zabaleta earns a throw from what looked to be comfortable West Ham possession. Martin Olsson cuts inside, he plays into Andre Ayew, who finds Ki Sung-yeung outside the area.

He's got time, he feints to shoot and buys a gap to strike, low on his left, and it creeps steadily into the corner! Surely Adrian has to get down to that?

Corner West Ham. Marko Arnautovic and his peroxide crop saunter in to the box.

Mark Noble's delivery takes a ricochet and almost finds Winston Reid's agile launch, but he can't direct on goal.

    Swansea 0-0 West Ham

Swansea's first move up the pitch is kept alive as Andre Ayew slides in to recover a loose ball - then his brother Jordan does the same. Alfie Mawson is encouraged to shoot from deep but veers away from the brink.

Ki Sung-yueng's long diagonal pass from deep is too long.

Lovely touches from Manuel Lanzini as he glides away from a melee with the ball stuck to his feet.

It goes home and Sam Clucas is tight on Pablo Zabaleta. The Hammers starting with all of the ball. But here's Winston Reid with a wasteful long hook up the pitch that goes straight out of play.

These two clubs have both threatened at times to pull away from danger but they remain in the mire. Swansea crumbled a bit at Brighton last weekend but a win on Saturday would move them level with West Ham.

The Swans have good reason to go into this game with a certain amount of confidence, having not lost at home since Carlos Carvalhal's first game in charge. It's an important period for them, with Huddersfield and Southampton up next.

West Ham also lost 4-1 last time out and their form has been mixed under David Moyes. He is increasingly able to pick from strength as the squad's injuries clear up but I feel he might be the happier of the two managers with a point on Saturday.

    • Swansea have lost the last three meetings, with their only win in 10 coming at Upton Park in May 2016 (D3, L6). The Swans have never suffered four straight league defeats against West Ham.
    • The Hammers won the corresponding fixture 4-1 last season and are unbeaten in four Premier League visits to the Liberty Stadium since losing their first match there in August 2012.

Swansea head coach Carlos Carvalhal:"The advantage we can take is that we have come from the bottom and we are progressing.

"The opposite is more harder if you are a team that was in eighth or 10th place in November or December and starts losing games to be in the battle to stay up.

"Teams down the bottom lose more games than they win, but we are doing exactly the opposite. This means we are strong."

West Ham manager David Moyes on supporter unrest with the club board: "We need the supporters with us. I don't know all their grievances but since I've been here I've really enjoyed the effort they have put in both away from home and at home, and I'm going to need them until the end of the season.

"We have a lot of work to do to make sure we are still a Premier League team and the more they get behind us the better."

Both teams will be looking to steady the ship a little bit, and I don't think a draw is a bad result for either of them.

It is important that West Ham get something because they are only three points above the relegation zone.

    Prediction: 1-1

Swansea boss Carlos Carvalhal makes seven changes to the side that beat Sheffield Wednesday in Tuesday's FA Cup fifth-round replay.

Returning to the side are Lukasz Fabianksi, Alfie Mawson, Martin Olsson, Jordan Ayew, Andre Ayew, Andy King and Kyle Naughton.

It is Andre Ayew's first start since rejoining Swansea from West Ham in January.

Swansea XI: Fabianski, Naughton, van der Hoorn, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson, Andre Ayew, Ki, Clucas, King, Jordan Ayew.

Subs: Britton, Abraham, Narsingh, Dyer, Nordfeldt, Carroll, Bartley.

West Ham make three changes to the team that lost 4-1 to Liverpool last Saturday. Out go James Collins, Angelo Ogbonna and Joao Mario, with Declan Rice, Winston Reid and Javier Hernandez coming in.

West Ham XI: Adrian, Zabaleta, Reid, Cresswell, Evra, Rice, Noble, Kouyate, Lanzini, Arnautovic, Hernandez.

Subs: Hugill, Joao Mario, Byram, Hart, Antonio, Cullen, Browne.

So it's not exactly relegation form, Swansea's. As manager Carvalhal said himself:

"Teams down the bottom lose more games than they win, but we are doing exactly the opposite. This means we are strong."

The Portuguese also reckons his side have the "mental advantage" of fighting their way up the table. Unlike for West Ham, there's no danger of getting lost looking down on what's below.

    We shall see.

Another intriguing entry in this season's scrap at the bottom of the table.

Swansea will move level on points with West Ham if they beat the Hammers today.

David Moyes' side have won just one of their past five league games, while the Welsh club's exellent recent run was only stopped at Brighton last week.

That 4-1 defeat - Carlos Carvalhal's team went chasing the game and were punished - was their first in six Premier League matches.
