    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Tottenham should be at least three goals ahead by now. You could make a very sound case for that.

Fewer than five minutes to go until the break now and Swansea are yet to really threaten - apart from that Nathan Dyer dart forward in the game's opening moments. Seems a world away now.

  2. CHANCE!published at 39 mins

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Christian Erkisen, this time brilliant with the delivery. His swirling corner is met by Eric Dier's head but the England man, on the rise and under pressure, can't direct his effort on goal. Big chance though.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 37 mins

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

OOOF! Christian Eriksen smashes another brilliant drive against the bar!

Actually it's a fantastic save by Kristoffer Nordfeldt - a strong palm up and onto the frame of his goal. Pretty much the same spot for the opener.

Mike Bell: Proper use of VAR for Son's 'goal', because the ball finished in the net. That's the only time it should be used, for me, which isn't that often. Took a short while, but worth the check and job done.

Jordan Dent: Disallowed goal too close to call on VAR? Time for laser beams across the pitch, whoever breaks the laser beam first rules onside/offside? Or, we could just let the pitch referee decide. Simplicity is bliss!

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Finally a bit of Swansea pressure. Kyle Naughton in space on the edge has a cross blocked by Christian Erikesen, but the ball breaks wide to Ki Sung-yueng. His low drive looking for Tammy Abraham is also fenced away, and as the rebound pops up there is Ben Davies to coolly head home to his keeper Michel Vorm.

That was so close, we've even seen it slowed down and we're still unsure what the official would do. It's so close that surely you need to go with the linesman's decision.

There are so many grey areas still as to where this is going to be used. If it's that close then you go with the on-field decision but we're falling into that temptation of using it for anything and slowing the game down.

So VAR shows Son was level when the ball was played but the goal is ruled out?! I'm confused!

You have to feel for the referees VAR is clear as mud!

VAR should give the benefit of the doubt to the attacking side. Is that not the logic refs use when they don't have the luxury of VAR? Looked onside to me anyway.

  11. CLOSE!published at 32 mins

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Erik Lamela rolling the ball past Nathan Dyer but towards nowhere in particular as Spurs build patiently from the back before Jan Vertonghen fires a pass out of play.

Dyer has space on the right wing now, some mild excitement builds in the stands, but Ki Sung-yueng is muscled off it and Spurs can break.

Son Heung-min down the left, his cross into the box looks for Lucas Moura and the Brazilian, from about two yards out, cannot connect properly - another really dangerous moment and again the home side survive.

  12. 'Spurs totally dominant'published at 12:44 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2018

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's total dominance for Spurs at the moment, they're being allowed to knock the ball around freely.

Swansea have been on a pretty good run of late but they have been very disappointing today. At home, it's a real opportunity to get the crowd going but they're so passive and it's such an easy game for Spurs who aren't even having to play at a fast pace.

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Given away cheaply by Swansea again. They're not really into this.

Tottenham gain the territory again and have the away side totally pinned back. Almost 80% possession for the away side so far.

  14. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Uh-oh, the wobbly lines are back. It's really hard to make out whether Son actually was offside or not. Referee Kevin Friend has his finger in his ear....

And the offside call remains. No goal. VAR in action. As it will be in the World Cup of course...

  15. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 23 mins

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Given away by Alfie Mawson and Spurs break. They are so quick moving up the pitch, passing matching the clever movement.

Son Heung-min is unleashed beyond the final man, he takes a touch to control and fires in the net, but the flag is up.

Disallowed, for now. VAR is reviewing...

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino looks a bit disgruntled. It's not just the cold. His team have gone off the boil slightly.

Lucas Moura then gets in down the right hand side with a clever flick and the pace to meet it, but across comes big Alfie Mawson with a very good sliding tackle.

  17. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Swansea 0-1 Tottenham

Very laid back here from Spurs now. Too laid back from Kieran Trippier - a poor touch sees a simple pass slip out of play.

Swansea boss Carlos Carvalhal is right on the touchline as his team take the throw-in... and immediately hand possession away again.

Ash Williams: Way too easy for Eriksen. No Swansea player closing him down or anyone tracking.

Daniel King: Not just a one-man club. Gorgeous finish from Eriksen.

He loves a strike against the Swans.

Christian Eriksen has been involved in more goals against Swansea than he has against any other team for Spurs - that was his seventh goal, he's also provided five assists against the Welsh club.
