Interesting that Marcus Rashford has come on to play on the left, with Anthony Martial switching to the right, with Alexis Sanchez remaining on the bench.

Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini are warming up now which suggests, given the time left, Sanchez is not going to get on.

Anon: The end product from Man Utd is so disappointing, no wonder frustration is creeping in.

Pascal Gross plays a square pass to Beram Kayal, who slaps himself around the head after sending his shot well over the top. It was of no danger to Sergio Romero's goal.

Nokeeroe: Brighton are in control now. This is poor from the Red Devils.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Manchester United 1-0 Brighton

Just under 20 minutes away from a Wembley semi-final for Manchester United. Marcus Rashford comes on for Juan Mata as Jose Mourinho looks to kill off any Brighton hopes of an equaliser.

Mata does not look too thrilled at getting hooked as he trudges off.

It is a sparsely populated directors' box tonight but interesting to see Michael Carrick in there.

Carrick confirmed on Monday he would be retiring at the end of the season, with the likelihood being that he will be joining Jose Mourinho's coaching team in an, as yet, undefined role.

Antonio Valencia doesn't defend this well [Locadia's header], he switches off and doesn't track Locadia behind him. Solly March puts in a fantastic ball and Locadia needs to head it back across goal. He goes to the near post and the effort is wide.

    Much improved performance from Brighton.

You can hear murmurs around the ground and signs the crowd are becoming a little frustrated.

    Manchester United 1-0 Brighton

Jose Izquierdo, within two minutes of coming on, has a chance to be a hero, his low shot from 20 yards out is heading towards Sergio Romero's goal, but a block, another excellent block, from Nemanja Matic blocks the effort.

The Old Trafford faithful are getting a bit restless.

A change for Brighton. Jose Izquierdo replaces Solly March. Glenn Murray still waits on the bench.

  14. CLOSE!published at 66 mins

    Manchester United 1-0 Brighton

I have to say, Brighton are putting up a better show in this second half than I was expecting.

And that should be an equaliser.

Solly March on the right wing, deceives Ashley Young and cuts back on to his left foot. The floated cross to the back post is a good one and Jurgen Locadia has peeled away from marker Antonio Valencia. Locadia should really hit the target at the very least, but can only head off target.

Another let off for the hosts. Brighton have been the better team so far this half.

He might not quite be on the level of Van Nistelrooy or some other United strikers of the past but if every player in the squad put in as much effort as Lukaku United would be having a better season.

    Lewis in Fife

Lukaku has been outstanding last month or two. Pogba needs to show the same graft and there could be the spine of an outstanding team for the next 5-10 years.

Alexis Sanchez is going through his paces on the touchline. Before that it was Paul Pogba.

Manchester United have already used one substitute so it will be interesting to see if either get on the pitch tonight.

Jose Mourinho seems reasonably pleased with Anthony Martial. At least, he applauded the Frenchman for getting back into a defensive position after his side lost the ball earlier.

    Manchester United 1-0 Brighton

The snow, which held up the passes in the first half, has largely melted on the pitch and the game is definitely picking up as a result.

Remember, a Brighton goal would take us to extra-time and maybe even penalties. They have 30 minutes to get that equaliser.

  19. Postpublished at 57 mins

Brighton seem to be growing in confidence and purpose here. Pascal Gross, tight on the right touchline, swings it into the area, but goalkeeper Sergio Romero cleans up the danger with a dominant catch.

Great hold-up play from Leonardo Ulloa. He finds Jurgen Locadia who produces a fantastic strike and it was an even better save from Sergio Romero.

Brighton are definitely dangerous on the break, they just need to do it with more consistency.
