Liverpool still have another couple of levels to go.

They have bossed the game since conceding, but at this high level if you don't take advantage when you are on top you get punished.

Alan: Hodgson always does well against Liverpool, not that he ever gets much credit for it

Hafiz: Top class officiating in the Palace v Liverpool game! is VAR watching?

Foxley: Think Klopp has lost the plot with this team. Henderson, Milner and Wijnaldum in midfield. No flair. They need to get the ball forward quicker.

Liverpool will feel aggrieved at the penalty decision, but overall Palace have deserved the lead, they have taken advantage of some really sloppy defending.

Lots of work to do for Liverpool in the second half.

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

    Andrew Gillies
    BBC Radio 5 live

The Liverpool bench immediately protested to fourth official Kevin Friend that Wilfried Zaha had raised his foot in the incident which led to the penalty.

When Luka Milivojevic converted the spot kick Jurgen Klopp straight away started whirling his arm in that familiar pattern to call for a response.

Now the Liverpool manager is patrolling his technical area with the hood of his jacket pulled over his head to protect himself against the rain. Not the best start to his 100th league game as Liverpool manager.

And then more words from Klopp as Sadio Mane goes down in the box and referee Neil Swarbrick says "no penalty".

The manager clearly feels the gods are against him now, engaging in some good natured banter with the fans behind the dugout.

Kolo: Can't wait for VAR. That was a clear foul on Manè, and a penalty.

    Corner to Liverpool.

James Milner finds Roberto Firmino at the far post, who nods the ball at goal and Sadio Mane uses the back of his head to score.

Mohamed Salah with a tame effort at goal which is easily saved by Wayne Hennessey.

The Egyptian is cutting a frustrated figure.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 24 mins

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Sadio Mane is booked for diving.

It looks the right decision, James McArthur's leg almost catches Mane, but he actually jumps away from it and throws himself to the floor in an exaggerated manner.

    Not Liverpool's day so far.

Yes he has missed one penalty this season, but Luka Milivojevic is the spot-kick king.

The Serbian has both taken (eight) and scored (seven) more penalties than any other player in the Premier League this season.
