  1. goal

GOAL Crystal Palace 3-2 Brightonpublished at 34 mins

    José Izquierdo

    Crazy. Just crazy.

Brighton again cut their deficit from nothing. Jurgen Locadia plays a nice ball through behind Joel Ward who can't match Jose Izquierdo for pace.

The Colombian charges on into the penalty area and curls a lovely finish across Wayne Hennessey into the bottom right corner.

    Crystal Palace 3-1 Brighton

As things stand Palace are up to 14th, one place and one point behind Brighton.

Dale Stephens is playing a risky game here. Already on a yellow card, the midfielder nibbles away at Wilfried Zaha again and gives away a free-kick.

There's a fair chance of a red card in this one today. Zaha is running riot.

He took that absolutely brilliantly and Brighton once again were sleeping. There was no challenge on the ball when it came in. Zaha snuck in between Schelotto and Duffy and met Milivojevic's lovely flighted ball with a header into the corner. Two-goal lead restored!

    Crystal Palace 3-1 Brighton

Just before that goal, Brighton were appealing for a penalty for hand ball. It was a fierce shot from Jose Izquierdo but hit a Brighton hand in the area. The shot was from close range but the arm was outstretched and I've definitely seen them given.

    Would have been harsh.

Palace are continuing to swarm forward. Zaha gets in behind again but can't find the cross.

  6. goal

GOAL - Crystal Palace 3-1 Brightonpublished at 24 mins

    Wilfried Zaha

    Crikey this is fun.

You don't see a Wilfried Zaha header very often but this one is really good, although once again it's bad defending. Luka Milivojevic swings in a high cross from deep in central midfield and Ezequiel Schelotto lets Wilfried Zaha run off his shoulder and nod in at the back post.

    Crystal Palace 2-1 Brighton

It's the away fans chanting now after a pulsating atmosphere created by the Palace supporters earlier. Luka Milivojevic is already on a yellow card after an earlier tackle and now brings down Beram Kayal. Kayal was away and Milivojevic is a little fortunate.

  8. goal

GOAL - Crystal Palace 2-1 Brightonpublished at 18 mins

    Glenn Murray

What an incredible start to this game. Brighton are back in it thanks to more poor set-piece defending. Lewis Dunk heads unchallenged towards goal before Glenn Murray hooks the ball in off the bar in classic poacher style.

Murray's celebrations are minimal against his former club.

Chris Hughton is fuming. He is waving his arms at his team, urging the Brighton players to up the intensity.

Once again Brighton have been caught from a corner. There were a few efforts on goal there and eventually Tomkins scrambled it over the line. Brighton have been shocked and stunned so far and with their run-in, this could be so damaging.

  11. goal

GOAL - Crystal Palace 2-0 Brightonpublished at 14 mins

    James Tomkins

    A proper goalmouth scramble.

It's another corner and Brighton just can't get the ball clear. Shot after shot is blocked but eventually James Tomkins' effort squirms through the legs of Brighton 'keeper Mat Ryan.

Palace have dominated this game. Brighton haven't even turned up yet.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 11 mins

Brighton can't get going and are already getting frustrated. Midfielder Dale Stephens takes a swipe at Wilfried Zaha and makes no contact with the ball. Andre Mariner tries to play advantage but then brings the ball back and rightly book Stephens.

  13. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Brighton

    Selhurst Park is bouncing now.

As David Pleat says, that was woeful from Brighton.

They have only scored seven away goals all season. They've got a lot to do now.

  14. 'Terrible defending'published at 5 mins

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Brighton

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live

Absolutely terrible marking by Brighton from the corner. Loftus-Cheek was able to play it back to Milivojevic who had no-one coming to pick him up. He drove it across goal and Zaha simply said 'thank you very much' half a yard from the goalline. Mat Ryan looks round at his defenders in exasperation. What a start for Crystal Palace.

GOAL - Crystal Palace 1-0 Brightonpublished at 5 mins

    Wilfried Zaha

Awful, awful defending from Brighton. Luka Milivojevic takes the corner short before being played back in by Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Brighton just don't get close to Milivojevic and he is allowed to stride into the penalty area and blast a low shot. Mat Ryan gets down well to save the effort but he can do nothing to stop Wilfried Zaha tapping the ball home from a yard out on the rebound.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Brighton

The game gets a jolt of electricity as the ball lands at the feet of Wilfried Zaha. He shows off a step over but eventually overruns the ball. The ball is re-worked by Palace and they earn a corner.

  17. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Brighton

The walking gif that is Roy Hodgson is on the sidelines pensively stroking his chin at the opening exchanges. Glenn Murray gives away a free-kick early on, playing against his former club.

It looks like Brighton are setting up 4-5-1 with Jurgen Locadia out on the right flank and Murray up front.

There are fans in short sleeved replica shirts in the crowd. Spring is finally here.

"Whoareya, whoareya, whoareya," chant the home fans in the direction of the Brighton supporters.

  20. 'Brighton could be in deep trouble'published at 14:58 British Summer Time 14 April 2018

Crystal Palace v Brighton (15:00 BST)

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Match of the Day commentator

This is a pivotal game. If Palace win, I can see them finishing above Brighton, who still need another win for comfort. If the Eagles lose, they might need goal difference to stay up. It'll be that tight.

Wilfried Zaha is the key. He destroyed Brighton in the Championship promotion play-offs in 2013 and scored brilliantly at Bournemouth last weekend. Missed chances in that game, though, could come back to haunt Palace.

If Brighton thought they were safe after beating Arsenal on 4 March, they were mistaken.

They haven't won in four games since then, and have just seven away goals all season - the lowest tally in England's top 10 divisions. If they don't improve on that they'll be in deep trouble again.
