Everton's goal has knocked the stuffing out of Swansea's players and fans. In a contender for understatement of the season, it was against the run of play.

To illustrate that point, Everton's supporters are singing a song about being 1-0 up despite being very bad, albeit in industrial language.

    So close for Swansea!

Michael Keane heads across the face of goal and Tom Carroll is on hand to nod almost into the net were it not for Jordan Pickford to narrowly collect.

Swansea are unable to turn their domination into goals and pay a heavy price with Kyle Naughton's own goal. Both sets of players and fans seem bemused by the fact Everton are ahead.

You have to feel for Kyle Naughton, he has thrown his body on the line and it has bounced off him. Hopefully the goal brings the game to life for Swansea.

A half-time television replay shows that the ball crossed the line by some distance before Lee Mason blew his whistle to allow Everton's goal.

No arguments. A shame for Swansea, who looked the better side for much of the first half.

    Goal line technology prevails!

Things could be going from bad to worse for Swansea after Kyle Naughton's own goal. Luciano Narsingh is helped from the field and looks in some discomfort.

    Kyle Naughton own goal

Talk about against the run of play!

In a melee of shots from Everton, Yannick Bolasie's initial shot is poorly dealt with by the Swansea defence as Idrissa Gueye fires tries again and, despite Alfie Mawson's admirable attempts to clear, Kyle Naughton is in the wrong place at the wrong time and the ball rebounds off him and goes over the line.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Michael Keane gets a touch onto a Wayne Rooney free-kick and, after Lukasz Fabianski clears, he has another bite of the cherry but his follow-up header goes wide and into the side netting.

Everton are slowly getting back into this game, but as yet no goals for either side.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Luciano Narsingh has gone down in the Everton box and he looks in a fair bit of pain.

He runs down the wing and Morgan Schneiderlin challenges for the ball but doesn't quite make contact, but Narsingh falls to the ground and receives treatment soon after.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Everton have had a shot on goal. Yannick Bolasie shoots from 35 yards out and it bounces before Lukasz Fabianski collects.

Carlos Carvalhal will be the happier of the two bosses as we approach half-time.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Swansea have been absolutely tremendous so far. Everton are yet to register a shot on goal and it's thanks in no small part to Alfie Mawson.

The Swans defender puts in an excellent tackle on Theo Walcott and the hosts look in good shape at the half-hour mark.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Andre Ayew hasn't scored for Swansea since joining from West Ham. Could today be the day?

He's teed up by his brother Jordan with a lovely pass that tears up the Everton defence, but Andre's shot is tame and goes low and straight into the hands of Jordan Pickford.

    What a chance for Swansea!

At one end, an Everton corner is well cleared and Swansea break with Andre Ayew literally leaving Wayne Rooney on the floor before he fires on goal.

A Swansea corner follows and they hammer the Everton goal with attack after attack, but Ayew's secondary effort is cleared off the line.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

For all their dominance with the ball, Swansea are just lacking that final impact in front of goal.

Case in point - Ki Sung-yueng. The Swans midfielder once again finds space on the edge of the box to fire goalwards, only this time he channels his inner Dan Biggar and sends it high into the stands.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Tell you what, Everton just don't look up for this in these early stages. Swansea have all the momentum and there's definitely a big game feel about this match.

Carlos Carvalhal's side desperately need the points, and end their three-game winless spell. And it shows.

Cenk Tosun launches a rare Everton attack and is easily trapped into giving away a free-kick, and Swansea are back in control.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Swansea almost win a corner in some absolutely comedic circumstances. Michael Keane plays a wayward back pass to Jordan Pickford that narrowly goes out for throw-in instead.

Jeers as well as cheers from a noisy crowd at the Liberty Stadium.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

A nice move from Swansea City sees Ki Sung-yueng fire goalwards from just outside the 18-yard box, but it's easily collected by Everton keeper Jordan Pickford.

The hosts are most certainly on top.
