    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Great run from Swansea as Andre Ayew links on to Lukasz Fabianski's long ball and works his way onto the edge of the box and tries his luck with shot that's blocked away for a corner.

Everton caught sleeping at the back.

    Swansea 0-0 Everton

Alfie Mawson carelessly gives away possession in midfield to Yannick Bolasie and fortunately for the Swansea man, the visitors struggle to break through their backline and Carlos Carvalhal's side have the ball back.

Both teams working each other out in these early stages.

Carlos Carvalhal must have changed the whole body language of the staff and team. He seems like a manager who will involve everyone and make them part of the team. The players have responded to him and it shows in their game. He's a real character who can have fun but also keep it serious when needed.

I think Swansea have got enough to get themselves over the line.

Comedian and Swansea City fan Elis James takes on Lawro in this week's Premier League predictions.

And funnily enough, he's predicted a 1-0 win for Swansea today.

"A run of one win in five has left Swansea with work to do to get clear of trouble and I am sure they will see this as a winnable game because of Everton's poor away form," he said.

Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal makes three changes from last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at West Brom. Forward Jordan Ayew returns from a three-match suspension, while there are recalls for Luciano Narsingh and Ki Sung-yueng. Defender Mike van der Hoorn and striker Tammy Abraham are on the bench, midfielder Sam Clucas is out injured.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce makes one change from the goalless Merseyside derby draw with Liverpool, with Idrissa Gueye replacing Tom Davies in midfield.

Swansea XI: Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson; Narsingh, Ki, King, Carroll, Olsson; A. Ayew, J. Ayew.

Everton XI: Pickford; Coleman, Jagielka, Keane, Baines; Schneiderlin, Gueye, Rooney; Walcott, Bolasie, Tosun.

Swansea are in a decent position and maybe even one win will be enough to make them safe. Carlos Carvalhal could equal a Swansea record today with a fifth consecutive home win - the first time they've done so since 1981 under John Toshack. It will also be a giant step towards retaining their Premier League status.

Everton are so Jekyll and Hyde. They've lost seven of their last 13 and only one win away from home in seven. There's a bit of discontent among the supporters who demand really high standards. I do expect Wayne Rooney to be playing today - it appears the rift between him and boss Sam Allardyce has been healed.

After Southampton were defeated 3-2 by Chelsea in today's early kick-off, Swansea could pull further away from the relegation places and establish their place in the Premier League for another season.

But if you ask Swans boss Carlos Carvalhal, it's not necessarily the players who can force the game in their favour.

"It depends on the fans. If we have the emotional part of the game is important, just look at the Roma and Juventus games," he said before today's game.

"You can how much the emotional side of the game influences matches. It can be different from one week to the other, but we have to play to our best level and that can make a big impact with the fans at the Liberty.”

Carlos Carvalhal is renowned for his quirky turns of phrase but, for today’s match against Everton, the Swansea City manager has swapped his analogies for a tub-thumping rallying cry.

The Portuguese has called on the Swans’ fans to be at their noisy best this afternoon, as the Welsh side aim to move further away from the relegation zone.

“The emotional part of the game is important,” Carvalhal says.

“Just look at the Roma and Juventus games [in the Champions League this week]. The emotional connection and the push of the fans is a massive part of the game.

“I want to say something to the Swansea fans, we need to play with 12 players on Saturday.

“We are sure that fans of Swansea, like they have so far, will be part of the game. They know the importance of their support and together we can achieve what we want on Saturday.”

Roll up, roll up. Carlos Carvalhal's Swansea City will be aiming to use today as the beginning of their staying up roadshow.

For Everton, meanwhile, their best hopes will be to establish a mid-table finish.
