    FT: Chelsea 1-3 Wolfsburg

And that's just about it from us today.

We started the day with the possibility of seeing two English teams in this season's Women's Champions League final.

Realistically, English hopes now lie with Manchester City.

Nick Cushing's team drew 0-0 at home to Lyon earlier today and will go to France next Sunday in a fairly positive mood.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will need to score three times in their second leg against Wolfsburg to retain any chance of a spot in the final after today's 3-1 loss at Kingsmeadow.

    Thanks for your company.

The first leg is over, and so may be Chelsea's chances of reaching the Women's Champions League final.

The WSL 1 leaders were ahead after two minutes with a goal from Ji So-yun, but by half-time they trailed and Wolfsburg have run out deserved winners.

Chelsea will need to score at least three times in the second leg if they are to stand any chance of getting to Kiev in May.

    Chelsea 1-3 Wolfsburg

Chelsea goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl is out of her box and misjudges a header clear, so handles the ball instead.

A yellow card for the Sweden international. Was there once a time when that was a red card offence?

Well this was a game that promised so much for Chelsea, especially after they took the lead within two minutes, but it's turned a bit sour for the WSL 1 leaders.

They've played ok, but have simply come up against a better side that have shown their quality after recovering from a slow start.

Chelsea make their final substitution - winger Gemma Davison is on for Erin Cuthbert.

    Chelsea 1-3 Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg are almost queuing up for a fourth goal here.

Substitute Zsanett Jakabfi is the final player in green and white to have a pop at goal, but her effort flies well over the bar.

  8. YELLOW CARD (Bright)published at 77 mins

    Chelsea 1-3 Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg's Pernille Harder nips the ball away from Chelsea defender Millie Bright, who doesn't pull out of a strong challenge in the centre circle and sends Harder about three feet in the air. That's a yellow card.

Zsanett Jakabfi replaces Caroline Hansen for the visitors.

Chelsea's second change sees Claire Rafferty come on for Gilly Flaherty on the left of midfield.

Ewa Pajor channels her inner Diego Maradona and almost waltzes through the whole Chelsea defence to score, but a last-ditch tackle prevents the Wolfsburg striker getting a shot away.

At the other end, substitute Eniola Aluko has gone up front for Chelsea and Fran Kirby has drifted out to the left wing.

Well if a second Chelsea goal was important before, it's absolutely essential now.

Going to Germany needing to score three goals in the second leg is not what Emma Hayes would have had in mind.

GOAL: Chelsea 1-3 Wolfsburgpublished at 66 mins

    Lara Dickenmann

There is the third Wolfsburg goal and it's an outstanding finish from Lara Dickenmann.

A right-wing cross finds Dickenmann, who acrobatically hooks the ball into the corner of the net.

The tie might just be beyond Chelsea already. They bring on Eniola Aluko for Drew Spence.

Chelsea have been slightly better after the break but, in an attacking sense at least, they're struggling to lay a glove on their opponents at present.

If anything, it's more about preservation for Chelsea at the moment because a third Wolfsburg goal would be a killer to their Champions League hopes.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 62 mins

    Chelsea 1-2 Wolfsburg

The first substitution of the match is made by the German side - Isabel Kerschowski replaces Anna Blasse at right-back.

    Fran KirbyImage source, Reuters

Fran Kirby looks like being Chelsea's best chance of finding an equaliser here.

However, the home side need to get more support to the England forward, who set up Ji So-yun's opening goal and has asked a couple of questions at the start of the second half.

    Chelsea 1-2 Wolfsburg

Chelsea really need to get themselves at least back on level terms here, otherwise they'll head to Germany for the second leg next Sunday needing to score at least two goals to have a chance of reaching the final.

If that quest for an equaliser goes on for too long, Gemma Davison and Eniola Aluko are the two attacking options we're most likely to see before the match is out.
