  4. Chesterfield relegated from League Twopublished at 22:06 British Summer Time 24 April 2018

    FT: Morecambe 0-0 Cambridge

Tonight's result for Morecambe confirmed that next season Chesterfield will be playing in non-league for the first time since joining the old Football League in 1921.

A second successive relegation has looked a strong possibility from the moment Gary Caldwell was sacked as manager in September after a run of one win in 10 matches at the start of the season.

The return of club legend Jack Lester as boss failed to suitably revive the cash-strapped Derbyshire club, with just eight more league wins since.

Having apologised for their pending relegation on Saturday, Lester's departure was confirmed just 24 hours before their fate was confirmed mathematically.

A look at what tonight's result means for the top of the Championship table.

Derby move into the play-off places and now have a two-point cushion on seventh-placed Millwall with a superior goal difference.

Meanwhile, Cardiff missed the chance to pull four points clear of Fulham as we enter the final two games of the season.

This season's promotion push could go down to the final game!

  8. League Two full-time headlinespublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 24 April 2018

As well as Chesterfield's relegation to the National League being confirmed with a draw for Morecambe, it's been a big night elsewhere in League Two.

Lincoln all-but sealed their place in the play-off places at least, winning a six-goal thriller, while Accrington missed the chance to clinch the title!

Meanwhile, Yeovil and Forest Green both guaranteed their survival in League Two. Here's how it ended:

    • Coventry 2-4 Lincoln
    • Morecambe 0-0 Cambridge
    • Newport 2-1 Accrington
    • Yeovil 0-0 Forest Green

So Blackburn are going up, while Shrewsbury will have to settle for the play-offs next month.

MK Dons aren't down just yet, but they're all-but relegated with their defeat at Bradford tonight, which keeps the Bantams in with a slim chance of making the top six.

Here are all the League One scores:

    • Bradford 2-0 MK Dons
    • Bristol Rovers 1-1 Wigan
    • Doncaster 0-1 Blackburn
    • Oldham 0-3 Southend
    • Rochdale 1-1 Plymouth
    • Shrewsbury 3-1 Peterborough

Blackburn Rovers return to the Championship at the first attempt under Tony Mowbray, who narrowly failed to prevent their slide into the third tier last summer as they were relegated on goal difference.

After two defeats in their opening two league games, the former Celtic and Middlesbrough boss has made Blackburn’s first campaign at this level since 1979-80 look straightforward.

The Ewood Park side have lost just once in the league since mid-October, with unbeaten runs of 18 and 14 matches sandwiching a defeat at Plymouth at the start of February.

Bradley Dack’s 18 goals from midfield saw him crowned as the EFL’s League One Player of the Season, while 14-goal striker Danny Graham and defenders Amari'i Bell and Charlie Mulgrew joined him in the PFA’s Team of the Season for League One.

Rovers still have a shot at winning the League One title with the win against Doncaster putting them a point off leaders Wigan.

However, Mowbray’s long-term challenge will be establishing the former Premier League champions as a second tier side once again.

    FT: Derby 3-1 Cardiff

Automatic promotion remains in Cardiff's hands, as they remain a point above Fulham with two games to go.

But the pressure could be well-and-truly on the Bluebirds if Fulham move in to second with a win at home to Sunderland on Friday, before Cardiff travel to Hull on Saturday.

It's still all to play for...

    Nottm Forest 3-0 Barnsley

A comprehensive win for Nottingham Forest against a Barnsley side who failed to get on the scoresheet.

The Tykes remain two points from safety and fourth-from-bottom Bolton after the defeat.

  13. Full-times at the bottom of League Onepublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 24 April 2018

Bradford 2-0 MK Dons; Rochdale 1-1 Plymouth

MK Dons are all-but relegated to League Two, but they're not mathematically down because Rochdale couldn't find a winner at home to Plymouth.

However, the Dons need a near miracle to stay up from where they are, six points adrift with two games to go and a badly inferior goal-difference.

Meanwhile, Oldham drop in to the danger zone with a heavy home defeat against Southend.

    Derby 3-1 Cardiff

What a win for Derby whose losing run in the Championship comes to an end as they come from behind to beat Cardiff City.

Neil Warnock's Bluebirds will have to go to the wire in their final two games if they are to win automatic promotion to the Premier League.

They are a point ahead of third-placed Fulham. Meanwhile, Derby move to within a point of the play-off places.

Oh my word. Well Derby's three-game losing run in the Championship is coming to an end in style!

Cameron Jerome bags a second goal of the night as he capitalises on some poor marking from Sean Morrison to roll it home inside the box.

He's then booked for time-wasting as the game restarts.

    Newport 2-0 Accrington

Accrington won't be sealing the League Two title tonight. A point would have clinched it for already-promoted Stanley, but Newport have doubled their lead in the closing stages through Frank Nouble.
