Rui Faria may be leaving Manchester United but evidently he remains a key figure for now.

Faria wandered up to Jose Mourinho just then to get details on the second substitution and immediately signalled for Ander Herrera to get ready.

Faria has been at Jose Mourinho's side throughout his career but wants a break from the game.

Luke Shaw has now been involved in three games in a row.

It says much for how sparingly the full-back has been used by Jose Mourinho that the last time he played in three successive games was in October and November 2016.

Shaw is another whose Old Trafford future cannot be guaranteed.

  13. Postpublished at 65 mins

Paul Pogba warms up on the sidelines.

This half has been even shorter on entertainment - no shots on target from either side.

Alexis Sanchez wins a corner. Daley Blind swings the ball in, it's headed clear by Andre Gray, who then falls to his feet looking dazed.

  18. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Watford

The ball falls for Michael Carrick and there are calls to "shooooooot" by the fans, but he can't quite get it from under his feet.

The United defence then almost hand Watford a way back into the game after a shoddy header by Marcos Rojo and some unconvincing defending by Eric Bailly.

    Back under way.

We should see Michael Carrick subbed off soon I think, wonder how long Jose will leave it.

David de Gea collected Manchester United's player of the season award for the fourth time ahead of kick-off.

De Gea is not even on the bench today but his deputy Sergio Romero clearly wants to impress as well.

The Argentina keeper just touched that brilliantly round the post.

Romero is one of those United players whose future is not entirely certain.

If he has a good World Cup, a number of clubs may offer him more regular games than he can get at United with De Gea in his way.
