This is Watford's third season back in the top flight and the third campaign in which they have got more wins in the first half of the season than the second.

In that time, they have also had four managers and it would be no surprise if Javi Gracia left this summer.

The lack of continuity doesn't seem to bother them, but a slow start next term and they might be in trouble.

Sergio Romero does his best David de Gea impression, as he gets down to his left to make a wonderful one-handed diving save to deny Richarlison's header from point-blank range.

Romero then saves Gerard Deulofeu's shot.

Michael Carrick is pulling the strings for United now. How they will miss his vision, but what an asset to have in the coaching staff.

Juan Mata has a corner, but Watford clear again.

It's not the greatest game but the Watford fans are making plenty of noise at Old Trafford.

This includes the booing of their former player Ashley Young. He left them in 2007.

Marcus Rashford fires in a good ball to Alexis Sanchez in the box and Watford have to hack clear - corner to United.

The young striker takes it, the ball eventually falling to Marcos Rojo, who ambitiously tries to volley at goal, but it is a scrappy effort.

Jose Mourinho, sporting a grey cardigan, is just wandering about his dugout, looking nonchalantly at the crowd and the pitch, the look of a man without a care in the world.

It will be very different at Wembley next week.

United get a corner, Ashley Young swings it in and Heurelho Gomes collects.

This match is soporific.

In a brief moment of action, Richarlison make a darting run and wins a corner.

But Holebas can barely beat the first man.

Andreas Pereira arrived just as the game was starting.

The Brazilian is in the process of completing a second season on loan in Spain, this one with Valencia, who have already qualified for next year's Champions League.

He still has a year left on the contract he signed at the beginning of the campaign.

Christian Kabasele can't continue and he is replaced by Adrian Mariappa.

Christian Kabasele is down injured at the Watford end after being helped into the advertising hoardings by Sanchez.

Watford are briefly down to 10 men, before the Belgium eventually hobbles back on.

Juan Mata finds Alexis Sanchez at the far post, the Chile forward winds up to volley home, but messes it up completely.

Very casual play by United but they somehow earn a corner after some persistent work by Matteo Darmian.

Daley Blind swings it in, it falls to Juan Mata who passes to Marcus Rashford but the youngster smashes it over.

David de Gea is not in the squad today, but before the game he collected his Golden Glove award for keeping 18 clean sheets in the league this season.

Marcos Rojo gets the game's first yellow as he lunges into Richarlison.

Sergio Romero, who has already dropped a cross this afternoon, sorts out his wall as Richarlison lines up a free-kick, which he blasts into the stand.

It seems to be Marcus Rashford up front, with Juan Mata on the right and Alexis Sanchez on the left.

Corner to Watford but it is cleared by Rashford. The visitors have had the better of the early exchanges.

There are a few goodbyes at Old Trafford today.

Jose Mourinho's assistant Rui Faria for a start.

His exit was confirmed last night, so it is the last time he will sit in the home dug-out.

Also, United's long-serving director of communications Phil Townsend, who is leaving this summer to take up a similar role at Uefa.
