Johnny: Neymar has played 11, 10, 8 and 6 so far tonight. He’s been doing his bit but Tite needs to tell him to stop coming back so much & either stay out wide or in the hole. Firmino is twice as good at Neymar at coming back and holding up play - why isn’t he playing?

A world class goal from a world class player separates the two sides. What a way for Brazil to open their tournament and they are deservedly ahead at the break. Switzerland have to offer more going forward.

That's enough for now. We feared for the worst for Switzerland after Philippe Coutinho's worldie, but they have hung in there. Don't go away, this one has got plenty in it.

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

    Chris Sutton

I wonder whether Switzerland will make a change, even as soon as half time, because they have been toothless up front.

Just over the top! Thiago Silva, recovered from being poleaxed, flicks a header goalwards, but it drifts over the bar.

The huge-haired Marcelo, as he has done all night, tries to get down the left. He wins a corner.

If anything, a little snap has gone out of this one, as if we're coasting towards half-time. A bit of keep-ball from Brazil, then a long pass that Gabriel Jesus is nudged away from.

Eeeessshhhh. Thiago Silva is going to have a headache. Steven Zuber's shot hits him on the side of the bonce and puts him down for an eight count. There's no concussion test, so he is not forced to remember the name of the Brazilian president.

  15. 'Switzerland lack punch'published at 19:39 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It's better from Switzerland's point of view, in terms of possession, but their attack has lacked punch. Alisson has had little to do. It's only the opening game but Brazil have that steeliness at the back, and they are better defensively under their current manager.

Brief confusion in the Brazil defence, but Haris Seferovic can't get the ball from under his feet. It seemed like the Swiss would be really under the pump after that Coutinho belter, but the men in red have been the better side since going behind.

Behrami has done well in those one-on-one duels with Neymar. He is playing close attention to Brazil's number 10.

It feels like I haven't mentioned Xherdan Shaqiri too much. Stoke fans will know that for every game that he is brilliant, there is one where he may as well have stayed in the dressing room. Here he tries to get down the right channel, but is snuffed out.
