    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

50p head! A teasing delivery from Neymar, finding Gabriel Jesus at the back post with the Swiss keeper flapping around like washing on the line. Somehow, rather than heading towards goal, Jesus puts it back where it came from. If that was on target, it would have been two.

  2. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

It was actually dinked in by Marcelo. Switzerland have to concede a corner.

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

Chants in Rostov, growing louder. Neymar is on the turf once more, clutching his face. This time, Stephan Lichtsteiner goes in the book. Brazil free-kick in Coutinho territory...

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

Neymar is over on the far side, sticking to his job on the left. When the Swiss have the ball, Brazil patrol the halfway line. Slow, ponderous stuff from Switzerland, unable to pick the pass.

Amy: Brazil no messing. They certainly have a point they want to prove and currently doing it in their typical effervescent style. Very very slick

Bob: The Swiss team looks terrified, this is going to be a rout predicting 5-0.

...headed clear. Nasty clash of heads between Brazil's Casemiro and Switzerland's Fabian Schär. Time for a replay of the Coutinho goal. It bent space and time.

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

And it was the Swiss that shocked eventual champions Spain in their first match of the 2010 World Cup. They have reacted well to going behind and have a corner on the Brazil left...

Switzerland haven't lost an opening game at the World Cup in their last four tournaments, so there is still hope.

    Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

Switzerland might be worried. After the first quarter of this match, every other team in the tournament might be worried, too. The goal has elevated the noise into a wall of sound. It's a knees-up in Rostov.

Wow. Brazil announce themselves at the World Cup and it's absolutely stunning from Coutinho. He must be 25 yards out, and the ball starts off outside the post before bending in. No chance for the goalkeeper and that is world class.

GOAL - Brazil 1-0 Switzerlandpublished at 20 mins

    Philippe Coutinho

Hello. We are Brazil. We are pleased to meet you. This is what we can do.

It's a magical strike from Philippe Coutinho, who bends physics to curl the ball into the top corner from the left corner of the Swiss 18-yard box.

It had been coming, too. A Brazil attack down the left. The ball falls to the former Liverpool man, who wraps his right boot around it. It soared through the Rostov night, into the top-right corner. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Aleksandr: 12 mins gone and Brazil haven't conceded an own goal. Their defence has improved.

    Brazil 0-0 Switzerland

Brazil are like a caretaker that has found the master key to the Switzerland defence. Doors opening all over the place. Gabriel Jesus is set free down the left, only for his ball across to be gathered.

Neymar goes straight into the wall. Brazil have had 64% possession so far. Marcelo, nominally listed as a centre-half, looks to have chosen to play as a number 10.

Neymar might have a long night. He also might struggle to get out of bed tomorrow morning. Earlier it was a tug from Xhaka. Now a trip by Valon Behrami. Brazil free-kick. Half the team are surrounding the ball. Central, 30 yards.
