Argentina have reached the quarter-final stage in four of their last five World Cups, only failing in 2002 when they did not get out of their group.
Excluding penalty shootouts, France have lost only one of their last 11 games in the knockout stage of the World Cup (W8, D2), a 1-0 defeat by eventual winners Germany in 2014.

Angel Di Maria’s goal for Argentina is the first goal France have conceded from outside of the box at the World Cup since 1986 against the USSR.
It is the first goal they have conceded from open play at this summer's World Cup.

As he spun off to celebrate, fans spilled down the stands above him, rushing to be close.
