Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson is among the pundits suggesting that Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon should be included in Gareth Southgate's England squad for this summer's World Cup in Russia.

The 17-year-old has scored 15 goals for the Whites this season in the Championship.

But the teenager was kept very quiet by Andre Wisdom and the rest of the Derby defence on Friday night.

Rams fans will want their side repeat the trick tonight.

The play-offs have not been the happiest of hunting grounds for Derby County, who have only been promoted once from their six times featuring in the end-of-season jamboree.

However, the Rams have progressed to a play-off final on each of the previous three occasions they have won a semi-final first leg.

All of those previous victories came in the second tier, in 1994, 2007 and 2014.

The Rams only went on to seal promotion to the top flight in 2007, beating West Brom under Billy Davies, but lost the other two finals to Leicester and QPR respectively.

Boss Gary Rowett will no doubt be hoping the Rams can preserve their first-leg lead and be under the Wembley arch again on Saturday, 26 May.

Fulham have to do something they have never done before to reach Wembley - win a play-off game.

This is the fourth time the Whites have reached the play-offs, and they have never tasted victory in any of their previous seven ties.

Fulham were beaten at the same stage of the Championship play-offs by Reading last season, and previously lost semi-final ties to Bristol Rovers in 1988-89 and Grimsby Town in 1997-98.

The hosts know they have to win, otherwise it will be more head-in-hands moments for captain Tom Cairney and company.

  5. Rams hold firm under Fulham pressurepublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 14 May 2018

    Fulham v Derby (0-1 agg, 19:45 BST)

Fulham bossed possession and territory in the second half of Friday's first leg at Pride Park as they sought an equaliser.

However, the Whites' efforts after the break were in vain as they rarely threatened Derby keeper Scott Carson and the Rams defence held out.

With over 77 percent of the ball and a third of the action taking place in Derby's defensive third, as these stats from Opta indicate, will Fulham regret their inability to convert their second-half dominance into a goal?

If you didn't see the first leg of this tie on Friday night, then you missed out on an intriguing match.

Cameron Jerome scored his fifth goal in four games as Derby County gained the advantage in their Championship play-off semi-final against Fulham.

Jerome powered home a delightful header from Craig Forsyth's cross following a slick move in the 34th minute.

Fulham bossed possession throughout, but only managed two shots on target.

Kevin McDonald came closest to a leveller with a shot that hit the bar.

You can catch up on Owen Phillip's report from the first leg here.

    Fulham v Derby (0-1 agg, 19:45 BST)

Craven Cottage, Fulham's home since 1896, offers a picturesque setting to play and watch football, sitting on the north bank of the Thames and right next to a park.

But it's Derby County, tonight's visitors, who have the upper hand heading into the second leg of this Championship play-off semi-final tie.

The Rams are 90 minutes away from Wembley as things stand, but Fulham are set to throw everything at them as they look to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.

It promises to be a big night by the river, and we'll bring you all the action. Team news is on the way shortly.
