The Rams scored 12 goals from substitutes last season - they could do with one now.

However, his celebrations are quickly cut short by a raised flag for offside. It was the correct decision too.

A frenetic start, a fairly sedate middle section and then a more physical and energetic finish to that first 45 minutes of this Championship season.

Derby's approach has been patient and at times very laboured on the ball, but they seem to know why they're doing it under their new manager.

Reading will perhaps rue not being more decisive in the final third on the occasions they have caught Derby being too ponderous in possession.
