Alexandre Lacazette tries to latch onto a smart pass from Aaron Ramsey but the chance goes begging when Jan Oblak sticks a foot out to deny him from close range.

He's been getting himself into some neat positions in the last few minutes but Arsenal haven't quite found the service.

Atletico attack on the counter and the ball is pulled back into the box for Kevin Gameiro. His shot smashes back off the face of Shkodran Mustafi.

Luciano Vietto then tries his luck from the edge of the box but it fails to trouble Bernd Leno in between the sticks.

Reiss Nelson is heavily involved in another Arsenal attack but this time on the left-hand side. He's switched with Emile Smith-Rowe, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have bunched up a little more centrally.

In the end, the Gunners can't breakthrough as Aaron Ramsey is swarmed on the edge of the box.

Thomas Partey fires a left footed shot from outside the box but it is too high and sails out for a goalkick.

Atletico are finally starting to show some attacking intent.

Kevin Gameiro makes a clever run in between the two Arsenal centre-backs. The pass follows but it's a little too deep for the striker and the chance goes begging.

That was smart from Gameiro and Arsenal need to be wary.

Arsenal have been very organised at the back and an attack comes from Rob Holding's sliding tackle.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang drives forward and lays it off to Alexandre Lacazette but his shot is blocked.

The number nine doesn't give it up though - hassling Atletico's young centre-back and winning the ball before his near post shot is palmed away by Jan Oblak.

78% possession for Arsenal and four shots on goal compared to Atletico's none. But there is still yet to be a real goalscoring opportunity and none of those shots have been on target.

He's had a busy month off the field but there's no Mesut Ozil in the Arsenal side just yet. He's in Singapore with the side though, watching on from the sidelines.

Juanfran drives towards the byline on the right-hand side with an overlapping run but can't bring it back into play. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had neglected his defensive duties and Arsenal almost paid for it.

David Luiz, sorry, I mean Matteo Guendouzi, is smart to win a foul off Angel Correa on the edge of the box.

But Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's effort is straight into the wall.

Atletico defender Francisco Montero is wearing some pretty fancy (?) swimming goggles but it's clearly helping his vision as he snuffs out an Arsenal attack to concede a corner.

Emile Smith-Rowe's cross is looking for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but the forward's shot is scuffed into the ground and bounces out of harm's way.

Matteo Guendouzi is full of confidence. He smashes one from practically the halfway line. It is no surprise to see it fly into the stands but the fans appreciated the arrogance.

Oh, Alexandre Lacazette is playing. I almost forgot!

Sead Kolasinac tries to find him in the middle but Lacazette's touch is a poor one.

Matteo Guendouzi is the player conducting things in midfield. He sprays a pass over to Reiss Nelson but the youngster's luck isn't with him as the ball bounces off a defender and into his face as he drives into the box again.

Reiss Nelson, the youngster playing on the right for Arsenal, drives past three opponents and lifts a ball into the box.

It takes a deflection but finds Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. His shot is blocked for a corner and Emile Smith-Rowe fires another dangerous ball into the box for Aaron Ramsey.

The youngsters have started very brightly.

Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng's first touch on the left-hand side is met with huge cheers from the supporters.

Atletico are well organised at the back though and Arsenal have to re-set, looking for a way around through the right.

Matteo Guendouzi is the easiest player to spot on the pitch due to his 'Sideshow Bob' hairstyle. He's playing in midfield alongside Aaron Ramsey today. His first action is to win a free-kick.

Where can I get mine done?

It's a strong line-up for Arsenal. They have some of their big stars playing including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Hector Bellerin.

But there are starts for youngsters Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Atletico Madrid are a lot less experienced - naming a lot of academy players in their side - and will set up in a classic 4-4-2 system.
