Six matches into the season and already the Premier League table doesn't make for happy viewing for Newcastle. Two points, only four goals scored and three home defeats.

Can they get their first victory of 2018-19 against a Leicester side that I saw lose 4-2 at Bournemouth a fortnight ago, when the scoreline didn't reflect how poorly the Foxes performed.

Leicester have bounced back from that loss with victory over Huddersfield and a dramatic League Cup penalty shootout win at Wolves.

Is it too early in the season to call this a must-win match for Newcastle? Probably, but they are desperately in need of their first three-point haul.

Wolves continue to win new admirers. Their excellent performance in the draw at Manchester United persuaded more observers that Nuno's side rank as one of the best new arrivals to the Premier League in years.

Anyone who witnessed their stroll to the Championship title will know that there's more to come - and turning numerous chances into goals is their main issue.

Goals have been a long-term problem for Southampton, so Danny Ings' availability is a major boost.

He has scored three of their six so far and is surely the main threat to Wolves' unbeaten home record that stretches back to January.

Six games into the season and it's just one win apiece for Everton and Fulham - although the greater optimism for doubling that tally should rest with the hosts.

Everton have a perfect Premier League home record in this fixture, and Fulham last avoided defeat at Goodison in a league game 59 years ago.

Perhaps the Premier League's joint top scorer can defy that narrative. Marco Silva's sides have conceded 91 goals in his 48 Premier League matches, so five-goal Aleksandar Mitrovic could be excused for salivating at the prospect of facing an Everton defence without a clean sheet since April.

When Huddersfield played last year they got some big wins early on and had momentum from the start of the season. They've brought in players who aren't even starting games and they're playing with pretty much the same team as last season. I think it's going to be a struggle for them this year.

He doesn't start today, but Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants defender Vincent Kompany to sign a new contract.

The 32-year-old Belgium international, whose deal runs out at the end of the season, will have a testimonial next August after 10 years at the club - with profits going to a fund for the homeless.

His last Premier League start was over a month ago.

Asked if he would like Kompany to be a City player next season, Guardiola said: "Yes, that is my wish."

The centre-back, who has had injury problems throughout his career, started Tuesday's 3-0 win over Oxford United in the Carabao Cup third round.

"It's incredible. He played the Carabao Cup like it's the final of the Champions League. That means a lot to me," said Guardiola.

I don't actually think much has changed about Arsenal under Unai Emery - they are a good side, but they were a good side under Arsene Wenger, just not one of the best three teams in the country.

As well as their good results, I like the look of Lucas Torreira in midfield, so there is lots to be encouraged about.

I think they will beat Watford and make it seven in a row, but it will be interesting when they come up against the big teams - like Liverpool on 3 November for example.

Manager Rafa Benitez says Mike Ashley's presence at Newcastle matches can only be a "positive" for the Premier League club.

The Newcastle owner attended his first match since May 2017 when he watched Saturday's goalless draw at Crystal Palace.

Benitez said he hopes Ashley continues to watch games for the "next weeks and months".

"It means that he cares and is supporting the team," Benitez added.

"If the owner wants to be around, that is positive, it has to be positive."

Rob Holding will take his place.

The heady days of spring and Huddersfield's successful battle to stay in the Premier League seems a long time ago.

Yet to win this season (or even score at home!), the prognosis is bleak, and things may get worse before they get better, with the next visitors to the John Smith's Stadium being Liverpool.

To win this one they're going to need Tottenham to have an off-day and, more importantly, give an error-free display of their own.

Start well, go in front, get the always excellent home crowd going, and we might see an upset.

If Spurs strike first, it will be hard to envisage anything other than their bounce back to form continuing.
