It's important Celtic keep that build-up but keep going wide as well. AEK are going to make it really congested in the middle of the pitch. James Forrest needs to keep his width on one side, Kieran Tierney on the other, and now they've got two strikers on the pitch to hopefully get on the end of something. Keep it moving quickly from side to side and try and get those gaps to appear.

Celtic can afford to go two up top now with the numerical advantage. With 10 versus 11 they don't need to worry about having that extra man in the middle of the pitch.

  9. 'Stupid' Galanopoulous pays the pricepublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 8 August 2018

    Celtic 1-1 AEK Athens

Konstantinos Galanopoulos earns two yellow cards in just seven second-half minutes.

"He's a young, 20-year-old player. His brain wasn't switched on," says former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner. "It's advantage Celtic, now let's see if they can do something here."

Former Celtic striker Scott McDonald is incredulous: "How stupid is Galanopoulos? How silly a challenge that was. It's a definite yellow."

    HT: Celtic 1-1 AEK Athens

    Scott McDonald
Former Celtic striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

It was a huge shot in the foot for Celtic. Psychologically it is a big test for them now. How do they respond to that? Brendan Rodgers will be saying 'Same again, get on the front foot like you did in the first half, but be wary of the counter'. They had one lapse in concentration, and that is what happens at this level in Europe.

It is total frustration for Celtic. Up to 40 minutes it was such a good performance in Europe, from an attacking and defensive point of view, even without creating lots of chances. The way they went about their game was superb. But that last five minutes...We are left dwelling on the negative when there is so much positive about that first half.

It’s the away goal Celtic dreaded. The warning signs were there and it looked all too easy. Celtic must get back on top and find the tempo in the second half that saw them dominate most of the first. Fans that looked satisfied now appear a little nervous.

  20. Celtic 'went to sleep'published at 20:34 British Summer Time 8 August 2018

It was poor defending in the middle of the box when that ball was played in. It was right out in the corner, it was drilled across and Klonaridis had all the time in the world. Somebody went to sleep in there.
