In Thailand, the funeral of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is under way.

Royal soldiers, monks and Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha's relatives took part in a procession before the ceremony in Bangkok.

The funeral began with Buddhist bathing rituals and will be followed by recitation ceremonies over seven days.

The Leicester City players are due to fly out to Thailand for the funeral after today's game.

"The players want to be there [at the funeral] after everything the owner has shown in the players and the club," said Leicester striker Jamie Vardy. "It is an extended family, so family members should be there."

This is a pre-match atmosphere like no other.

Before retreating to the dressing room, Leicester's players went through one final warm-up in a corner of Cardiff City Stadium where the home fans sit, and they were given a standing ovation by the Bluebirds' supporters.

There's a real feeling of solidarity here today.

In dedicating today's fixture to the memory of the five victims of the crash, Cardiff owner Vincent Tan pays tribute to Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and all at Leicester in the official programme.

"We stand alongside them in memory of those lost last weekend," he writes. "The world of football lost a true pioneer and visionary."

Usually a boisterous and hostile venue, Cardiff City Stadium is a solemn place of contemplation this afternoon.

Supporters have been trickling into the ground for a while now, with conversations more hushed than usual as Leicester prepare to play their first match since the death of their owner and four others in last weekend’s helicopter crash.

There are several plans in place for tributes before and during today’s game. As well as the pre-match minute’s silence and laying of wreaths on the pitch, Cardiff’s supporters will share with their Leicester counterparts a banner bearing the two clubs’ emblems and the national flag of Thailand, Srivaddhanaprabha’s homeland.

It promises to be an emotional afternoon, when the football itself could seem almost incidental.

Here is what is planned:

14:55 GMT: Players will walk out earlier than usual and Leicester fans will sing 'When You're Smiling'.

The home supporters will unfurl a specially-made flag.

14:57 GMT: Floral tributes will be laid on the pitch.

14:58 GMT: Minute's silence.

Leicester City boss Claude Puel makes five changes from last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with West Ham. Striker Jamie Vardy was dropped for that game but returns in place of Kelechi Iheanacho. Captain Wes Morgan returns from suspension to replace Caglar Soyuncu, Demarai Gray takes the place of Rachid Ghezzal and Ricardo Pereira comes in for Daniel Amartey, who is out for four months with an ankle injury.

Leicester XI: Schmeichel; Pereira, Morgan, Maguire, Chilwell; Ndidi, Mendy; Gray, Maddison, Albrighton, Vardy.

The Leicester players have just emerged from the tunnel for their warm-up. They're wearing white t-shirts with a picture of their late chairman and owner on the front.

They came out to a round of applause from both sets of supporters and immediately went over to their visiting supporters to show their thanks.

I've just been chatting to these Leicester supporters.

"I've lost count of how many Cardiff fans have stopped us to shake our hand," said one. "He made our dreams come true".

Worth an estimated $3.8bn (£2.9bn), Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was chairman of duty-free company King Power International Group.

He bought Leicester in 2010 for £39m, cleared their debts and saw the club win promotion to the top flight four years later. They then beat odds of 5,000-1 to claim the Premier League title in 2015-16 in one of the greatest sporting stories of all time.

Claude Puel started Thursday's news conference by reading a statement, which began: "This has been without doubt one of hardest weeks in the history of this football club."

The club held a meeting on Monday for staff and players to "speak and share" their feelings.

The players were given the choice to train on Tuesday, and all 27 chose to take part.

"Everyone came to a unanimous decision," said Jamie Vardy. "We get out there and make sure we prepare for an important game.

"I think by playing football you are able to take your mind off it slightly, even just for an hour or so."

Players will wear special t-shirts today in tribute to their owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Leicester manager Claude Puel has said today's result is "not important".

"Playing football has not been at the front of our minds this week," he said.

"But for this weekend, and all the matches thereafter, we play to honour a man who did so much for our club.

"The result is not important, but our desire, our actions to give our best on the pitch to honour our chairman, is the most important thing. I'm confident after I saw my players at training that they can give their best."

Today is more than just a game, it goes beyond football.

One week ago, an hour after Leicester drew 1-1 against West Ham at King Power Stadium, the devastating news came through that a helicopter had crashed at the stadium.

Foxes owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four other people were killed.

At Cardiff City Stadium this afternoon, Leicester will play for the first time since the incident.

It's going to be an emotional occasion.
