    So far so good for Scotland in Europe, thanks to Rangers' dramatic afternoon in Russia.

  3. Can Celtic join Rangers in group stage?

    Talking of Celtic, the Scottish champions will hope to join Rangers in the group stage of the Europa League later on.

    Suduva of Lithuania are in Glasgow for the 20:00 kick-off, with the tie level at 1-1 after the first leg.

    We'll be back with radio and text coverage of that one, while there is also a big night against for Scotland's women, who must beat Switzerland in Paisley in their bid to reach a first World Cup.

  4. Rangers turn focus to Old Firm derby

    Rangers will enjoy this remarkable result but they can't dwell on it too long because the first Old Firm derby of the season is at Celtic Park on Sunday.

    Brendan Rodgers has bossed the fixture in his time in Glasgow. Can his old Liverpool captain turn the tables?

    A 6,000-mile round-trip is not ideal preparation but Steven Gerrard's men have been staying on UK time during this excursion and the players probably get more leg room on their charter flight than we do on the budget airlines.

    Rangers might have thought they were in for a comfortable afternoon when the midfielder's shot flew in.

    It didn't quite turn out like that but the Ibrox side got there in the end.

    People were asking the question of Steven Gerrard and whether he was tactically good enough. He’s answered a huge question. Rangers rode their luck at times but it was a brilliant performance.

    Not a bad start for Steven Gerrard, who is now unbeaten in his first 12 games as manager.

    The Ibrox side go into the hat for tomorrow's Europa League group stage draw after a backs-to-the-wall effort in Bashkortostan.

    They lost Alfredo Morelos to a foolish red card late in the first half and then Jon Flanagan picked up a soft second yellow after the break.

    Ufa piled on the pressure and hit the frame of the goal twice, while Allan McGregor made one tremendous save.

    Ufa still need to break Rangers down. If Steven Gerrard pulls this off it will be a tactical masterclass. I’ll not be surprised if we see a Rangers substitution soon to freshen things up
