Niall McGinn is warming up on the touchline for Aberdeen. Dons boss Derek McInnes said pre-match James Wilson was unlikely to play long into the match so that may be the change he is thinking about.

It's a fascinating match, tactically. Two evenly matched teams. Aberdeen may be thinking, 'maybe we've weathered the storm'

At a Hibs corner Stevie Mallan's delivery is headed up in the air by Max Lowe and Mark Milligan's volley goes off target. The ball just came at the Hibs man too quickly.

Gary Mackay-Steven's low drive is collected by Hibs goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.

Some nice intricate play between James Wilson and Gary Mackay-Steven almost gets Sam Cosgrove away but the offside flag halts Aberdeen's advance. Again, the call looked dubious.

A nice through ball by Lewis Stevenson finds Oli Shaw but the Hibs man is flagged offside.

A replay shows he may have been onside, though team-mate Paul Hanlon was offside.

I don’t think there is any doubt that Derek Mcinnes will have been the happier of the two managers when referee Steven McLean blew his whistle at the end of a frantic opening 45 minutes.

Once the Hibernian midfield established that Max Love was unable to track the pace of Martin Boyle when he drifted inside the chances began to be created.

The winger will be disappointed that both opportunities that came his way did not end up with the home side taking the lead.

That said, if Dominic Ball's free-kick had been one inch lower it would have been the Pittodrie side that would have gone in front.

I would not be too surprised if the Dons boss makes a change at the break to try and nullify the threat of Boyle and maybe go back to a more orthodox four-man defence.

  12. HALF-TIME Hibernian 0-0 Aberdeenpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 25 September 2018

It's been a pretty hectic first half with Aberdeen starting well but soon ceding control to Hibernian.

The hosts should have gone ahead through Florian Kamberi's early chance and have had the ball in the net only to have the goal chalked off for Martin Boyle's handball.

And Hibs almost fell behind when Dominic Ball fired a free-kick off the bar.

    An interesting second half beckons.

The referee's in a great position to make the call, and you do see Boyle dipping down. It was a great through ball, though
