    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

United get a rare foray forward and have a free-kick in a promising position.

    Can they make it count?

Marcelo dinks a shot over keeper Ales Hruska to give Real Madrid a 2-0 lead over Viktoria Plzen in Group G, much to the relief of under-pressure coach Julen Lopetegui.

What a fightback from Hoffenheim - they were trailing Group F rivals Lyon but now lead 2-1 thanks to Andrej Kramaric's second.

Over in Rome, Cengiz Under has thumped home a brilliant half-volley into the roof of the net to give Roma a 3-0 lead over CSKA Moscow.

  3. CLOSE!published at 21:14 British Summer Time 23 October 2018

    Shakhtar Donetsk 0-2 Man City

City have missed a fair few chances today, Riyad Mahrez particularly guilty.

The ex-Leicester winger controls the ball on his thigh at the back post and has time to eye up the goal, but ends up dragging his shot into the sidenetting.

    You expect better from Mahrez.

That was the best move of the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo strikes it so well. It was going in and David De Gea gets fingertips to it.

The movement before that shot was sensational. They are on a different level.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:11 British Summer Time 23 October 2018

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

"Red Army, Red Army," scream the Manchester United supporters but it is Juventus playing who are playing some sublime football.

Cristiano Ronaldo whips the ball out wide to Juan Cuadrado and is not tracked, getting it back from the Colombian.

Ronaldo, from the angle, rockets a shot towards the top corner but cannot beat David de Gea's stunning save, tipping the ball over the crossbar.

Chris Ward: Manchester United just aren't a very good team. Poor in defence. Static and slow in attack. No dynamism. Little quality beyond Martial. Formed of the players we laughed at them signing (Young, Smalling, Lindelof) and lazy "stars" (Lukaku, Pogba).

Ryan Bracken: Juventus are another class entirely, but did any preparation go into this game for United or what? Looks more like a Juventus training session

    What a tackle.

Juve defender Leonardo Bonucci is one of the best centre-backs in the world and he has just shown why.

United winger Anthony Martial lets the ball drop in the box and is about to pull the trigger with his left peg, but across comes the Italian with a perfectly timed sliding tackle to take ball and man.

Guv: Dybala tap in but then what have Juventus actually done with the ball other than pass it around their backline protecting a 1-0 lead? There's a difference between defensive and dominant.

  11. Rodrigo's gamepublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 23 October 2018

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have had 51 touches between them. Rodrigo Bentacur in the heart of Juventus' midfield up against them has had 52 on his own.

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo likes to get up the pitch, not just down the right but through the middle too.

The Portugal international finds a yard but then pulls his shot wide of goal.

United lucky Valencia only drew today, but they will still not make it out of the group and then Mourinho will be looking for a new job. Hopefully.

Same pattern in this second half to the first.

    Man Utd 0-1 Juventus

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC Radio 5 live

This is a Juventus team that could beat anyone in the Premier League and I think they can go on and win the Champions League.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have got to impact the game more for United in the second half.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:03 British Summer Time 23 October 2018

United need a marked improvement in this second half.

Romelu Lukaku, like their bus before the game, is late to arrive.

Away we go again at Old Trafford.

Edin Dzeko scores again for Roma with a sidefoot finish into the corner from Stephan El Shaarawy's pass - the Bosnia and Herzegovina striker scored a hat-trick in Roma's previous Champions League match.

The Serie A club lead Group G rivals CSKA Moscow 2-0.

Chris: Same old story for Man Utd poor in midfield and when they do get near the opposition box they give the ball away.

Bobby Stewart: David De Gea keeping united in the game, could be 4/5/6 maybe more. United have got to sort it out at half time.

Stu: That has got to be Man United's worst performance in a first half since Sevilla earlier this year.
