  2. St Mirren have 'long term' worries for Hammillpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Aberdeen 4-1 St Mirren

Adam Hammill joined St Mirren on a deal until January this week and it looks like the former Barnsley winger has picked up a serious injury on his debut.

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney tells BBC Scotland: "We had come here with a game plan and for 25 minutes we've executed it pretty well. We were quite happy and content with how it was going. All of a sudden in a flash of three minutes we find ourselves with an upward struggle.

"It's his shoulder [Hammill]. We'll have to send him for an X-ray but it's not looking good. It's looking more long term than short term.

"It's a work in progress, we still have a lot to do. The home form has been good it's the two away fixtures that have disappointed.

"We need to win games and to win games we need goals. Simeon Jackson took his goal well, to get off the mark in his second game is brilliant and hopefully he'll push on from that."

  3. Holt happy with Livingston 'bravery'published at 17:42 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Motherwell 1-1 Livingston

Livingston boss Gary Holt tells BBC Scotland: "You have always got to be happy when you come back from a goal down after being behind at half-time.

"We tweaked a few things at half-time, asked them to raise their intensity levels and be braver on the ball, and we showed that in the second half.

"It was a cracking free-kick from Keaghan [Jacobs] and it is testament to the lads that they rolled their sleeves up and went toe to toe with a robust side to get a point."

  4. Shankland & Dobbie keep banging them inpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

Lawrence Shankland scored again as Ayr United beat Dundee United to stay top of the Championship. That's the former Aberdeen striker up to 18 for the season.

It means the 23-year-old has 47 goals in 47 starts for the Honest Men, which is just ridiculous!

However, he's fallen further behind Stephen Dobbie in the scoring charts, with the veteran Queen of the South striker grabbing his fourth hat-trick of the campaign as the Doonhamers came from 3-0 down to draw at home to Alloa, to take him to a whopping 24 goals.

  5. 'I couldn't be more pleased' - McInnespublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Aberdeen 4-1 St Mirren

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "I'm happy considering the injuries and suspension we had. We've got a lot of players out, so it's difficult at the minute and it has been since the start of the season.

"There were loads of positives for me. For Sam Cosgrove to get his two goals, young Connor McLennan - fantastic goal. Lewis Ferguson back on the pitch, and the performance of young Max Lowe.

"Connor McLennan took responsibility today and put in a performance when, had everyone been fit, he probably wouldn't have played.

"In spells we were very good today. I couldn't be more pleased."

  6. Motherwell 'showed character to hang on with 10 men'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Motherwell 1-1 Livingston

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson took heart from his side's point against Livingston despite surrendering a lead and having Carl McHugh sent off.

"The positive to take out of it was we did stop our losing run," he told BBC Scotland: "You could see the lack of confidence from not winning matches, the crowd were getting on their backs and there was a lot of nervous tension.

"But the boys showed a lot of character and we hung on with 10 men against a team flying high.

"We lacked quality on the ball but the main thing was not to get beat today."

  7. 'That type of performance is not acceptable'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Hibernian 6-0 Hamilton Academical

Hamilton Academical manager Martin Canning was, not surprisingly, a very unhappy man after that 6-0 thumping by Hibernian.

"The better team won today," he told BBC Radio Scotland. "We didn’t compete anywhere near well enough and that’s the most disappointing thing for me.

"This clubs traditionally is known for having heart and fight and that type of performance is not acceptable. It was really poor and punished by a good side. The players are good enough, no doubt, we just need to make sure we compete better than we did today."

  8. 'Mallan is very special' - Lennonpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Hibernian 6-0 Hamilton Academical

Two crackers from Stevie Mallan in Hibernian's 6-0 thumping of Hamilton Academical took the midfielder's haul to nine this season.

The midfielder's stats from today: four shots, three on target, two goals, one assist.

Hibs head coach Neil Lennon says Mallan "has a very special talent".

"Magnificent from start to finish, the quality of the football, I've got the result I’ve been looking for for a few weeks," he tells BBC Radio Scotland. "Our finishing was very good today, so you’re looking at a very happy man.

"Mallan is very special, I’ve not seen a guy hit a ball as consistently and as well as that in a long time. That’s nine goals already from midfield – that takes some doing, that’s a very special talent he’s got.

"Mark Milligan has been a revelation. Efe Ambrose has been in the best vein of form I’ve seen since I had him around 2012-13. This is without Paull Hanlon, Martin Boyle’s semi-fit, no Jamie Maclaren.

"I’m looking for progression and that’s what I’m getting. Celtic Rangers, hearts are all excellent sides. Kilmarnock and Aberdeen won today. It was important to win and keep that run going and the competitiveness of the league is very, very high now. We’re in amongst it, how long it remains is down to us, but delighted with what I’m seeing at the minute."

  9. Penalty decision is 'a joke'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Dundee 1-2 Kilmarnock

More from a furious Dundee manager Neil McCann...

"It's very difficult. I need to pick my words very carefully here. We're warned at times about how we conduct ourselves at the side of the pitch towards to fourth official or the referee and then after games we've got to choose our comments as managers.

"But we work in an environment where decisions are so important and that is a decision that has totally changed the outcome of this match. That decision is a joke. I believe referees have to be 100% sure that it's the right decision to give a penalty. The view from behind the goal is a shocker.

"I've just spoken to my players who've been told by the player [Kilmarnock's Jordan Jones] that he went down, he dived. I've said to Jordan himself coming over, did he take a dive?, he didn't answer the question."

  10. 'If there's contact, it's minimal'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Dundee 1-2 Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke on that penalty incident: "I've seen a wide-angled view of it. If there's contact, it's minimal. Sometimes, if you are quick player, the slightest contact is enough to bring you down.

"If I need to have a word with Jordan [Jones], I'll have a word with Jordan."

  11. 'A blatant dive', fumes McCannpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 6 October 2018

    FT: Dundee 1-2 Kilmarnock

Dundee manager Neil McCann on the match-winning penalty for Kilmarnock: "It's a blatant dive. I'm livid."

There were several excellent goals in the Premiership this afternoon, with Stevie Mallan pinging in two long-range strikes for Hibs and teenager Connor McLennan finding the top corner on his first start for Aberdeen.

Top of the lot was a wonderful free kick from Keaghan Jacobs to rescue a point for Livingston at Fir Park.
