Alex Haworth: Penalty save aside, it looks like a matter of time before United take the lead here.

Steven Fletcher again tries to lead the line but can't get a half-volley attempt anywhere near the target.

Another look at that previous ball into Matthew Penney suggests Wednesday fancied a penalty shout for the challenge Chris Basham made on the edge of the box. Nothing doing for Andy Madley on that occasion.

How are your nerves Wednesday fans?

This is frenetic stuff so far and Sheffield United are playing at a great tempo. Wave after wave they come forward and at times, it's like pinball in that Wednesday area.

Steven Fletcher tries to break forward for the Owls, but can't quite find the perfect ball for Matthew Penney to bring under control in the Blades area.

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield United won't be deterred by that missed penalty.

John Fleck surges forward again from midfield and fancies a go from distance. Not this time sadly as he skews an effort well wide right of goal.

Karl: I’ve been in Guernsey 10 years now & due to visit Sheffield next week. Just waiting on the final score to know whether to pack my blue & white scarf or not.

Given that penalty save, Karl, I would pack it anyway!

Sheffield United in on goal again after that penalty miss.

Wednesday scramble it clear just as the ball looks like falling to David McGoldrick on the edge of the six-yard box.

What a save from Cameron Dawson!

Wednesday fans jubilant behind that goal as their keeper makes a fantastic stop to deny Sheffield United taking the lead.

Wasn't the worst taken penalty to be fair to David McGoldrick low down to the right but Dawson was there at full stretch to palm it past the post!

  8. PENALTY TO SHEFFIELD UNITEDpublished at 14 mins

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

No escaping punishment this time for Wednesday.

Morgan Fox tangles with Mark Duffy as he gets in behind in the Wednesday area and Andy Madley has no hesitation giving the penalty.

    David McGoldrick to take it....

  9. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

United furious that Andy Madley hasn't punished Joey Pelupessy for a late challenge on Mark Duffy in the midfield.

Signs that Wednesday are going to try and disrupt the Blades' rhythm on the ball as much as possible.

  10. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Kieron Freeman concedes a free-kick for United but Wednesday need a second attempt to put a decent ball into the Blades' area.

Chris Basham hooks it behind for a corner which Morgan Fox nearly gets on the end of running in late.

But. it's miles over the bar and into the Kop.

Wednesday setting themselves up with what looks like a back five with Michael Hector sitting in front of them.

Billy Sharp almost gets a lovely through ball on a plate for a one-on-one for United but Cameron Dawson comes off his line well to pick it up.

  12. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

First real chance of note falls to John Fleck for Sheffield United and he rifles a strike left-footed from 30 yards out.

Great save reaching across to his left from Cameron Dawson as he palms it behind.

Jack O'Connell can't quite direct his back post header on target and behind it goes for a goal kick.

  13. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Sheffield United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Loud old start to this one in the stands and Sheffield United are trying to match that tempo on the pitch coming forward.

Wednesday could well be in for a bit of an aerial threat at the back this evening on the early evidence.

Sheffield comes together though before the action commences to mark the centenary of Armistice Day this weekend with the laying or wreaths by local representatives of the armed forces and the playing of The Last Post.

Both captains also lay wreaths on behalf of their clubs at the opposite ends of the ground.

A fitting tribute from everyone inside Bramall Lane.
