Aston Villa's trip to Pride Park this afternoon also marks the first meeting of former Chelsea and England team-mates Frank Lampard and John Terry on the touchline.

The pair will be in opposing dug-outs, with Lampard in charge of the Rams, while Terry is Villa boss Dean Smith's number two.

"It's the start of John's next career and I'm sure it will be a success," said Lampard.

"He's got all the attributes to be a top coach and, one day, a top manager. I think he will bring a lot to Aston Villa.

"Villa have lots of threats individually and collectively, so we need to appreciate what is in front of us."

Nottingham Forest v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

Nottingham Forest celebrate against StokeImage source, Getty Images

These teams have already met this season - Nottingham Forest beating Stoke 3-2 in the Carabao Cup third round. More of the same please.

Sixth-placed Forest have lost just one of their last 11 Championship home games and have Lewis Grabban in fine form with nine goals in nine league matches.

Stoke have picked up slightly over the past month but are down in 15th and don't have a good record at the City Ground.

All four Championship meetings between managers Aitor Karanka and Gary Rowett have ended all square and you possibly wouldn't bet against that outcome here.

Emi Buendia enjoyed a good day as his goal helped Norwich on their way to a 4-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday last time out

Carrow Road has not been a happy hunting ground for Millwall of late.

And by of late I mean since November 1968.

It's been 50 years and 20 visits since the Lions last enjoyed a trip to the Canaries.

If they're to end that streak today then they'll need to upset the odds, Daniel Farke's team have won eight of their past 10 and moved into the automatic promotion places after a thumping 4-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday last week.

Meanwhile, Millwall have failed to win any of their past 10 away games in the Championship...

    Reading v Ipswich (15:00 GMT)

    Paul LambertImage source, Getty Images

Ipswich boss Paul Lambert enjoyed a pretty dramatic first game as Town boss against Preston last week.

The Blues took the lead at the end of the first half through Freddie Sears before being pegged back by Paul Gallagher's free-kick.

The visitors then had goalkeeper Chris Maxwell sent off meaning Gallagher had to go in goal for the final 15 minutes. Remarkably the veteran Scotsman pulled off some fine saves to keep Ipswich at bay and force the hosts to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Unfortunately, draws are not going to help Ipswich climb off the bottom of the table.

They visit a Reading team who have won three of their past four home games, having won just two of their previous 17, but remain in the relegation zone on goal difference.

QPR's great run of form ended in defeat at Blackburn last weekend, while Brentford beat Millwall to end an eight-game winless streak.

Two points separate the mid-table sides going into this London derby, with the Bees needing to win to leapfrog their opponents.

Steve McClaren's R's have conceded just twice in their past six games but come up against the Championship's top scorer Neal Maupay, who will look for his first goal in three matches.

  10. End of an era at Wiganpublished at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2018

    Middlesbrough v Wigan (15:00 GMT)

There's been a changing of the guard at Wigan this week, with the Whelan family selling the club to Hong Kong-based company International Entertainment Corporation for £22m after 23 years as owners.

The Latics reached the Premier League and won the FA Cup with Dave Whelan and grandson David Sharpe at the helm, but former Everton boss Joe Royle is now director with his son Darren becoming chairman.

On the pitch Wigan are leaking goals, conceding eight in their past three Championship outings - all ending in defeat.

Boro meanwhile are the clean sheet specialists, having conceded just eight goals in the league all season, though they have only managed draws in their past three league matches.

Ipswich are the only side who are more than three points behind the team above them in the table - and they're bottom.

They're at third-from-bottom Reading in what is the game of the day at the wrong end.

There's generally still very little to choose between the rest, with Hull, Preston and Millwall all finding a little bit of form.

Bristol City v Preston (15:00 GMT)

    Paul GallagherImage source, Getty Images

    Bristol City are... inconsistent.

Back-to-back defeats have followed back-to-back victories and Lee Johnson's side are slap-bang in the middle of the Championship table.

The Robins have lost their past five league games against Preston, who are still searching for their first win and clean sheet away from home this season.

Paul Gallagher had scored and been put in goal within four minutes of coming on at Ipswich last time out - no player in the league has been directly involved in more goals than him as a substitute this season (3 goals, 1 assist).

  13. Trotters looking to avoid unwanted recordpublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2018

    Bolton v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

    Phil ParkinsonImage source, Rex Features

It's been a tricky few weeks for Bolton.

The Trotters are just one point above the relegation zone and have lost their past three home games without scoring.

Should they make that four today then they'll create a new club record.

Wanderers boss Phil Parkinson will just hope this game goes better than his last meeting with the Swans. Parkinson led League Two Bradford City to the final of the League Cup in 2013 but their fairytale run came to a crushing end as they fell to a 5-0 defeat by the Welsh side.

Graham Potter's side could climb back into the top six with a win and only Neal Maupay (18) and Lewis Grabban (17) have netted more goals in the Championship in 2018 than Swansea striker Oli McBurnie (16).

Should clubs be able to loan players whenever they like?

This week it was confirmed the EFL has asked Fifa to allow its clubs to make loan signings outside of transfer windows.

EFL clubs were previously allowed to bring players in on emergency loans but that system was scrapped before the 2016-17 campaign.

This relaxation of the current rules would be limited to players who qualify for the national team in the relevant country and are under 23.

Does this make sense, or should clubs do all their business over the summer and in January? Who could your club do with bringing in right now? Send opinions using #bbcefl on social media.

    Blackburn v Rotherham (15:00 GMT)

    Bradley DackImage source, Rex Features

These two sides came up from League One together last season.

The hosts have enjoyed a strong start to the Championship season and have lost just once at home all season.

It's been a slightly tougher start for Rotherham, who recorded a vital 2-1 home win over Swansea City last Saturday for their first success since September.

However, the omens for another win today are not great. The Millers are without an away win all season and are yet to take the lead in a game played away from the New York Stadium in 2018-19.

If they're to take anything today they'll need to keep Rovers forward Bradley Dack quiet. The former Gillingham man has scored nine goals and set up another five in his 14 appearances this season.

  16. Hull's MacDonald out with blood clotpublished at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2018

    Birmingham v Hull (15:00 GMT)

Hull will be extra keen to get a result at St Andrew's for centre-back Angus MacDonald, who will be out until at least March after a blood clot was found in his calf.

We wish Angus well in his recovery from deep vein thrombosis.

Hosts Birmingham's 11-match unbeaten run came to an end at Derby last time out, but Garry Monk's side have gone 13 home league games without defeat, winning their past three.

Derby v Aston Villa (15:00 GMT)

    Jack MarriottImage source, Rex Features

Frank Lampard is enjoying a strong start to his managerial career with Derby.

Depending on other results today, a home win could see the Rams end the day top of the Championship.

Home wins are something the Pride Park faithful have come accustomed to this season, after a 4-1 humbling by Leeds United in August Derby have won five and drawn two in front of their own fans.

Meanwhile, today's opponents Aston Villa are looking to end a run of seven away games without a win after starting the season with a 3-1 success at Hull City.

The Villans have won their two home games under new manager Dean Smith but lost both their away games, a run they'll need to end if they're to get into promotion contention.

You might expect a table as tight as this after half a dozen games, but not more than a third of the way into the season!

Nottingham Forest are the only side in that graphic who can't end the day top - though Sheffield United would need a totally fanciful set of results to finish Saturday at the top of the tree.

Leeds have the honour for now but they're the only side away from home, and have to wait until the late kick-off to face West Brom.

    All bets are off.

This weekend's Championship action began at Bramall Lane last night with the Steel City derby.

Sheffield Wednesday keeper Cameron Dawson was the stand-out performer, saving David McGoldrick's penalty as the Owls kept their first clean sheet of the season to earn a point from a goalless draw.

"I thought their goalkeeper was outstanding all night and their best player by a country mile," Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield.

Team news is in and there's a start for Stoke winger James McClean, who apologised to the "vast majority" of the club's fans yesterday after he called some supporters "uneducated cavemen".

But the 29-year-old said he would not be saying sorry to those who abused him over his decision not to wear a poppy.

McClean is from Derry where British soldiers shot dead 13 civilian protestors during 'Bloody Sunday' in 1972. A 14th person died later in hospital.
