It's been quite a night of drama, with Celtic closing the gap on leaders Hearts, St Johnstone making it three wins in a row, Kilmarnock frustrating Rangers and a dogfight brewing at the bottom.

However, the headlines will all be about the disgraceful scenes at Tynecastle during a goalless Edinburgh derby.

Let's hope it's all considerably calmer in the stands for our next helping of Scottish Premiership action.

A "furious" Neil Lennon has been expanding on the ugly incidents that marred the Edinburgh derby.

“People will say I was winding the crowd up," he told BBC Scotland. "I wasn’t. I was just giving a bit back for the abuse I was taking for 90 minutes.

“But people say Neil Lennon brings it on himself, he deserves to get hit by a coin or whatever.The guy must have a few quid because it was a pound coin. I am looking forward to him getting singled out, and if it is a lady, meeting them face to face and seeing what they have to say for themselves.

“I am not having this. I have had it here before, a guy coming on to the pitch trying to attack me. It is just not on.

“It stung me; it is quite sore. I don’t know where he has thrown it from, but it is a good shot. He might get in the World Match-Play (darts) next year. It came out of nowhere. I am furious about it to be honest.”

Lennon was equally damning about the incident which saw Hearts keeper Bobby Zlamal apparently punched by a supporter.

“If any Hibs fans have been misbehaving, I want them punished as well," he added. "It is unacceptable. I hope they are singled out, banned and arrested. We don't condone that. It isn't the face of our club or way we conduct ourselves. A player getting punched trying to do his job is just an absolute disgrace. He is not a Hibs fan."

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney is not holding back about recent performances after a sixth straight defeat.

"At this point in time we're not winning games and performances have been haphazard to be honest," he told BBC Scotland. "It's been for a couple of weeks the players have passed the buck and we've put the ball long continually and the ball's coming back."

"It's quite clear that the squad in general needs quite a bit of reconstruction and quite a bit of quality. There's eight weeks have to pass before that's allowed to happen so it's so important to get a reaction from the boys we've got at this point in time."

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has hailed James Wilson after the on-loan Manchester United striker fired in a long-range howitzer in the win over Hamilton for his second goal for the club.

"The reaction for the support when he scores, he should remember that, and hopefully it gives him that appetite to score more goals for us," he tells BBC Scotland.

The quality of that one - don't expect him to score those types every week, but it shows you the level the boy can play at."

McInnes said the Dons were having to be patient with the 22-year-old because of his lack of games before arriving at Pittodrie and the manager is relieved to build on Sunday's League Cup semi-final win.

"Although we were confident going into the game, with a lot of the energy taken out of the team after Sunday, this could have been a lot trickier than it was," he adds.

"We were guilty of some sloppiness in the first half, but we also lit up the game with a few moments of quality and the first two goals were fantastic."

Dundee manager Jim McIntyre says there "no positives at all" after that shellacking at the hands of the champions.

He told BBC Radio Scotland: "The first goal, Rogic has got time to pick the ball on the edge of the box. It's a wonderful finish but we've got men in position who have got to close the ball down.

"The second goal isn't a penalty, but none of us claim. That's disappointing. I don't know if that's the mindset of 'poor us' rather than being aggrieved at the decision, which they should be, because it's not a penalty.

"After the second goal, the confidence is shot to pieces. That is where we've been trying to pick the lads up. This is a big job - I've got to put that out there - but we need to give ourselves a helping hand. We're shooting ourselves in the foot and it's draining confident.

"We've just got to keep encouraging them. But it's all about making sure we do our jobs. But I still believe there's a nucleus of a squad there that can win football matches. We've got two massive games coming up against Motherwell and St Mirren, so the picture can change very quickly."

A very happy Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers sees plenty of positives after leading his team to their 100th competitive victory under his stewardship.

"Firstly, our defensive compactness and our ability to press the game is always important," he said.

"Our technical level in the game was very high. Good movement, good combination play, and scored some wonderful goals.

"You need good movement and a bit of quality to break Dundee down. Rogic finished his goal magnificently and once it goes in, you see the level of the team get even better.

"It's about getting back to how we know we can play, and we're starting to see that now. The creativity, the scoring of goals, but also not conceding any. The level of our game is definitely improving.

"Daniel Arzani's injury was innocuous, he slipped as he was going forward. We just need to see what the scan comes up with. He was going to get a good run of game time there and you can see he's confident, he wants to be attacking and aggressive, but we'll just see how that is."

It appears that both assistant referees, Frank Connor and David McGeachie, were hit by objects thrown by the crowd during the Edinburgh derby.

The SPFL will get a full report from the referee and match delegate on Friday morning.

Hearts manager Craig Levein is appalled by the attack on opposite number Neil Lennon and an assault on his goalkeeper.

"There's no place for that," he tells BBC Sportsound. "Bobby Zlamal got punched (by a supporter) at one end and Neil has been hit by some idiot with a coin.

"Tensions are high on and off the field, I get that. But I don't like to see that. That's letting things go too far and hopefully we will find both of the people who were involved in these incidents and deal with them.

"It's ridiculous that people are subjected to that."

"I think he brings a lot of it on himself. Whoever throws something from a stand should be ejected immediately but Neil Lennon was goading the fans as that goal got disallowed. As managers, coaches, players, we have to have a level of professionalism to not incite that and I think at times he does."

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon tells BBC Sportsound: "I got hit by a coin, right on the jaw. Thankfully there is no cut or damage, but it is unsavoury to say the least. It's unacceptable."

This is the second time Neil Lennon has been subjected to violence at Tynecastle.

When in charge of Celtic in 2011, he was attacked by an idiot, who ran on to the park and swung a punch.

This may prove to be a pivotal evening in the title race. Celtic simply swept Dundee aside and look to be gaining confidence and momentum.

With Hearts up next in the league they have the opportunity to close in to just one point.

If Jim McIntyre did not realise the size of the task ahead of him, his introduction at Dens will have informed him sharply.

There is so much work to be done to resurrect this ailing side. They lack confidence and it seems the ability required to get anything going.

The manager will look to improve things ahead of the January window but that can’t come quickly enough you’d imagine.

It wasn't the purest of games.

Throughout the game Hearts had the territorial advantage but not great quality, Hibs had the greater opportunities to score.

A frustrating night for Rangers as they cannot make their pressure tell.

Despite dropping two points, the Ibrox side move up to fourth in the Premiership but they could have been third with a win.

That's the position Kilmarnock occupy, having slipped below Celtic, but they will be delighted with another unbeaten visit to Glasgow.

There were a few flashes of football but it was typical Tynecastle derby fare but with the twist of a disgraceful ending.

A lot of blood, thunder and snotters, with shameful scenes in the stands.

Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal may have been struck by a fan and Hibs manager Neil Lennon was hit in the face by what looked like a coin.

There are smokebombs going off inside the stadium now.

It's all very ugly. Very ugly indeed.

A rout for the champions. Yet more woe for Jim McIntyre and Dundee.

Celtic scored some excellent goals, with Tom Rogic, Scott Sinclair, James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard handing them a 4-0 half-time lead.

Ryan Christie added a fifth after the break and there were plenty chances for Brendan Rodgers' side to score more.

Celtic have rattled in 18 goals in their last four domestic matches.

Dundee still haven't scored under McIntyre and remain rooted to the bottom of the Premiership.

St Mirren are without a win in 10 Premiership games and they never looked like doing the business tonight. Goals from David Turnbull and Chris Cadden won it on a comfortable night for Motherwell. The Buddies also had Ryan Flynn sent-off for a poor tackle on Richard Tait. Another miserable night for their manager Oran Kearney.
