He didn't just allow underdogs to dream, he gave us genuine hope. That is quite possibly the most underrated achievement in world football. RIP

  2. #TheBosspublished at 09:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2018

Social media hashtags can carry little or light-hearted meaning.

But the one used by Leicester City players fans and those further afield to remember Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is powerfully poignant.

It symbolises what he meant to a club, who pulled off the unthinkable in 2016 to lift the Premier League title.

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who was at the scene moments after the helicopter crashed, composed an emotional message to a man who 'made his dreams come true'.

Markedly, he closed his open letter with #TheBoss.

Snooker's world number one and Leicester fan Mark Selby was playing in China, but spoke to BBC Radio 5 live this morning.

"I'm absolutely devastated. Obviously being in China, I didn't get the news until Sunday morning out here. I've still not come to terms with it at the moment.

"It is tremendous what he has done. I was fortunate to meet him a few times and he was such a lovely guy. He couldn't do enough for anyone.

"He has done wonders for Leicester, put Leicester on the map. He had a heart of gold.

"If it wasn't for Vichai, winning the Premier League wouldn't have been possible. It shows that with the right people behind you, anything is possible. I never thought I'd experience something like that as a Leicester fan, but right now it seems like a distant memory."
