"We needed to get three points, we dropped two points. Overall we played very well, much better than last couple of games. We need to make sure everyone is fresh and ready for the next game.

On Charlie Austin's disallowed goal: "It’s clearly not offside from me, I didn’t connect to the game. So it is a shame to drop two points from the referee but what can I say.

"The referee realised they got it wrong. I heard that he said that.

"I don’t like to talk about the ref but it is painful for us. We showed more character. We will move forward.

On their performance: "We are very close, not far away and I feel we did much better today, more confidence, the players showed the desire, but simply not enough yet."

West Ham United

West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass: “We believed we could win the game but we didn’t start well enough. The manager made changes; we got the equaliser and had a few chances to win it.

"It’s a great finish from Felipe Anderson, what we want is to see him doing that regularly. It’s up to us now to help and support him.

“We’ve showed that spirit that maybe wasn’t there over the last few years. A draw is probably a fair result.”

Newcastle United

Newcastle goalscorer, Salomon Rondon: "We need this to be honest, this is the way we need to keep working and fighting. You can see the level tonight, so we need to keep playing like that to stay up.

"Tonight I am really happy, we have played really well. I have to keep working, this is my job to score, I am very happy.

"This is the way to keep winning, we need the three points to keep fighting because it is important for us to stay up.

Southampton

Southampton striker Charlie Austin: "It’s ridiculous, they shouldn’t be in the game, We scored a perfectly good goal that was ruled out for offside. The officials cost us two points. They said it was offside, that is a joke.

"People go on about VAR, they clearly need help. If this is the best, most-watched league in the world then give them all the help they need. It is a joke.

"Sure there are many positives, we worked hard, we deserved three points and we would have got that had we not been let down by the official.

"We feel like we have been let down. I started well, worked hard to be up 1-0 at half-time and we stuck to the plan.

"We didn’t get beat but we should have gotten away with three points going into the international break.

"The performance was there, we can take that away and we should manage the game. I’m angry is what it is, we should have won 2-0.

Leicester City

Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield goalscorer Alex Pritchard: It’s probably two points dropped. It’s very disappointing, especially off the back of a win against Fulham.

"The first half was a much better performance than the whole Fulham game. But in the second half we dropped off and let them back into the game.

"It’s difficult to take but we just have to pick ourselves up. We will keep going until the very last minute."
