Cyrus Christie, playing on the right side of midfield, chases a back-pass down but NI keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell deals with it successfully.

Northern Ireland are seven minutes from Nations League relegation. Austria and Bosnia are still drawing 0-0. NI need a Bosnia goal.

  3. Postpublished at 86 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Republic left-back Enda Stevens breaks into the box as he charges onto Robbie Brady's high pass and George Saville does well to get it behind for a corner.

It's only the hosts' third corner. NI have had 11.

From the corner, Conor Hourihane volleys miles over.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 84 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

The hosts make their final change. Darragh Lenihan, who hasn't done much to cement a place in the team, is replaced by Fulham's Cyrus Christie.

  5. Postpublished at 83 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Jordan Jones, lively since he came on, picks out Steven Davis, he finds Stuart Dallas, to Paddy McNair, now to Jamal Lewis.

It's nice but they're not really going anywhere and Jones' cross is cleared.

Why didn't I bet on this game being 0-0?

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

We're unlikely to see a Michael Obafemi debut for the Republic today. That's five of the six subs on, including three forwards, without the Southampton teenager called upon.

  8. Postpublished at 80 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Sean Maguire does have to come off with an injury and Scott Hogan - who has not started a game for Aston Villa all season - is on.

As is the case with international friendlies, a host of substitutions have taken the sting out of the game somewhat.

The Republic had been growing into the game more but should have been behind after Darragh Lenihan's terrible mistake let sub Jordan Jones in but his effort was well saved by Darren Randolph.

Portsmouth striker Ronan Curtis has looked lively since coming on for his Republic debut at half-time but once again goals have continued to elude both teams.

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Sean Maguire appears to be struggling with an injury. His career with Preston has been plagued by injury problems.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 77 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

First NI booking as George Saville brings down Ronan Curtis.

  12. Postpublished at 76 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Great move by Northern Ireland, who deserve to win this game really. Paddy McNair carries the ball 50 yards, plays it to Steven Davis - who tries to pick McNair out in the box, slightly overhitting it and the Republic escape.

  13. Postpublished at 75 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Jamie Ward is somehow 32. I remember when he was a promising youngster.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Jamie Ward is on, Michael Smith is off for Northern Ireland.

  15. Postpublished at 73 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Can't get over that defending by Darragh Lenihan. Shocking. Time for another sub now...

  16. Postpublished at 73 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Darren Randolph saves the Republic with a glorious stop. It's shocking defending by Darragh Lenihan as he just waits with the ball at his feet, sub Jordan Jones nips in and takes it and looks set to score before Randolph stops his effort with his feet.

That was the best chance of the game.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 71 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty gets plenty of boos from the home fans as he replaces Liam Boyce up front for Northern Ireland.

  18. Postpublished at 69 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

A chance for NI which seems to come from nowhere. Shane Duffy's terrible header out right is turned into the area by Michael Smith and Darren Randolph punches it away before Liam Boyce can put the visitors ahead.

  19. Postpublished at 68 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

The first thing Sean Maguire does is lose the ball to Steven Davis.

And Robbie Brady concedes a free-kick as he tries to get the ball back for the Republic.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Northern Ireland

The roof comes off as James McClean is replaced by Enda Stevens. Callum Robinson is replaced by Preston team-mate Sean Maguire.

Robinson struggled in the lone striker role today. He had basically no support.
