Villa are now unbeaten in their last 13 league meetings against their biggest rivals. They've won nine and drawn four.

It could have been such a different story if Che Adams had not struck the post to put Blues 2-0 up earlier.

That's the first time more than three goals have been scored in a Second City derby since 2008, when Villa won 5-1 at Villa Park.

It'll go down as a classic, that's for sure.

A third win on the bounce moves Aston Villa up to eighth in the Championship.

They're four points behind sixth-placed Derby and a play-off spot.
