Pep Guardiola to BBC Sport: "A good win, after the Champions League it is always tough. People think it's easy for us but that is not the truth so I like to win in this way.

"We were flat but after we were more aggressive and we changed the game. I asked them for more at half time but the first five minutes was no good, they didn't listen, but one action from Raheem Sterling changed the game.

"Leroy Sane was fantastic too. We don't expect every 90 minutes to have an incredible performance. Sometimes it happens. It is a lesson we have to learn, how to win when we are tired."

Manchester City

"We had a lack of rhythm in the first half, Bournemouth are so fast up front and so hard to play against. They put so many balls into the box, they are so strong.

"In the second half Raheem Sterling changed the game, and Fabian Delph. We were much better. We play every three days, that is why we were flat. Sometimes it is complicated, and the opponents are good too.

"Sergio Aguero, I don't know if he will be fit in midweek. We shall see."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton defender Shane Duffy speaking to Match of the Day: "We knew it would be tough and the start wasn't ideal but it was good to come away with three points.

"I timed the header perfectly. It is difficult but I think Yves Bissouma just gets there in front of Steve Mounie. That obviously killed their gameplan but we were better than last week and that was pleasing.

"There were small margins in this game which went for us. Over the season it works out both ways. Maybe we were a little lucky today but after the second-half performance we deserved three points.

"It is a big week. We knew we had three games we thought we could win. That's one off the board and we go into the next game hoping to pick up another three points."

Robin Smit: Pep did the same thing with his players at Barca that he is doing at City by getting into the mind of the referee with intimidation tactics. City do get away quite a few decisions that do favour them overall.

Watford

Watford striker Isaac Success: "They had chances early and they made use of them. We had some chances as well but we struggled and unfortunately we lost. I feel sorry for my friend Etienne (Capoue) because he was one of the best players and I don’t think it was a red card.

"It was right in front of me and there was no contact. We will see what the FA will do about it because it was never a red card and we need him back as soon as we can."

Bournemouth

More from Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe to BBC Sport: "We nullified them for long periods and had moments ourselves when the ball could have bounced our way. It was a good time to score, right on half time.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "It was always going to be a difficult game, we knew we would be without the ball for long periods but we stuck at it. We had moments, even in the second half. The three goals we conceded were scrappy, they didn't cut through us with beautiful football and we kick ourselves for that.

"Our plan worked, we are frustrated because we had good counter-attacks, the ball just didn't bounce our way, This is the closest we have come here."

Tyrone Mings penalty appeal? "It's one of those where as the away team, with no noise to disturb the referee, it's easy to wave away. It could have been a penalty."

West Ham United

West Ham striker Javier Hernandez, speaking to Sky Sports: "We are very happy. We wanted to come here and get three points. The important thing is that we scored first. We scored three and could have got more. We created chances and got the clean sheet.

"I know I am doing well on the training ground. I have been patient. In this world when you have confidence it is easier to perform like I did today. I missed two but we did a good job, my team-mates.

"We have a big squad, with people waiting for an opportunity. We have another opportunity at home next up."
