"After the Barcelona game and qualifying for the next stage of the Champions League it is difficult to find the way to perform like this.

"Today I congratulate my players effort and the 50,000 fans. It was a late victory but so important for us.

"The character to always push to the end shows great belief and faith in the way we play. That pleases me the most.

"You can win or lose but to try and play the way we are playing it is always possible to achieve what you want."

Huddersfield had 73.6% of the possession against Newcastle - the highest of any side to lose a Premier League game this season.

The problem has been turning that into goals.

Since the start of last season, Town have failed to score in 29 Premier League games, eight more than any other side.

Huddersfield manager David Wagner, speaking to BBC Sport: "I think the guys have done well, they played decent football and dominated without the clearcut chances.

"Newcastle are a well drilled side, they are difficult to break down, but we have done a lot of things right, they had one chance and took it.

"We played some good football today and in recent weeks as well. Today was different because we did not have clearcut chances but how the players played and defended, their bravery and intensity to be on the front foot, was great."

Leicester City

Leicester boss Claude Puel to BBC Sport: "I think we did not start the game with the right intensity. We played a poor first half, it was not enough.

"We came back in the second half with a good intensity and quality. We had three or four chances to come back into the game. I think we deserved to come back but it is a big disappointment because we need the points.

"We were unlucky at the end but we lost three points. It is important to correct this and to play a consistent game from the start until the end."

Watford boss Javi Gracia speaking to BBC Sport: “The end of the game was different than the most part of it. We dominated the first 70 minutes, we created a lot of chances and we could have got a better victory today.

“Their goalkeeper was amazing. The last part of the game I think was a good lesson for us to know how we have to manage the game.

“The last games we have played well, but today we deserved the win, it is important for the players and supporters. All of them deserve the victory.

“We looked for a good result many games ago and now we enjoy three points.”

Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez: "I said so many times this group of players deserves credit and today they came together and worked hard.

"We gave the ball away a little bit in the first half, but in the second half we were better organised. The idea was to exploit them on the counter attack and exploit the space behind them.

"We scored a goal and then scored another that was not offside. We have to give credit to our players against a team who always go forward.

"Against a team so close to us in the table, and to get three points, it was a good achievement.

"I told my players if we make two or three passes we will get behind them and that's what happened.

"My players are doing well but we can improve little things. Today it was clear with a couple more details we would have had more chances."

On his goal: It was a good ball from Andros Townsend, I saw the space, decided to shoot and it was a wonderful goal.
