    Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Unai Emery to BBC Sport: "I think we worked well. Our injuries changed our possibility to do something different. When we were 2-1 down we had chances to draw but we didn’t score.

"Sokratis hurt his ankle – I hope not a lot. Koscielny is different. It was maybe a break. I hope not but he’s going to the hospital and we’re going to wait.

"We are taking a lot of big injuries, like Hector Bellerin.

"We played a team in a good moment. We lost this match but I'm happy with our work. The supporters helped us.

"We need to think about the Premier League. We won against Chelsea and are close. We need to push in that competition and we have another important competition in the Europa League."

"I hope they are not two big injuries. Our gameplan worked well, we had pressure and chances but in the second half we can take some risk.

"The players worked well to win this match but we lost today. We deserved more."

Well at least our billionaire chairman, having seen that we now literally have no defence, will get out his cheque book. He wasn't there? Ozil to play as a sweeper?

Two games against United this season, and three injured centre backs. I know we don't have enough money for signings, but how about for some bubble wrap?

  11. 'We looked more like a proper team'published at 22:13 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2019

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to BBC Sport: "It's fantastic to go through in the cup. It's one of the hardest games you can get.

"I've had a [selection] headache since I came because the squad is full of good players. It's up to us to pick the right tactics and players. We need to rest a few as there's big games coming up. But we have fresh legs.

"Today we looked more like a proper team. We looked more structured. We'd worked hard at defending and counter-attacking. Counter-attacking is classic Manchester United - Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ji Sung-park - we've scored so many at Arsenal over the years.

"Today was a big step forward. It was a massive improvement from the Tottenham game. It's easy to get excited and talk about the future but we need to just keep working and think about the next game.

"We had to dig deep. The attitude and work-rate was important. Towards the end it was comfortable but not during the 90 minutes."

Manchester United shouldn't even need to consider anyone and just pay out Ole's Molde contract and give him the job full time! It's become such an obvious thing now!

All their goals were fast breaks. Why can’t we do that? Why do we put the brakes on in the final third? Why are we giving Ramsey away? Questions....

  15. 'Arsenal fell into United trap'published at 22:07 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2019

    Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd

    Alan Shearer
Former England captain on BBC One

Man United picked Arsenal off with ease in the second half, they were much the better team.

Arsenal fell into the trap and they offered very little. Arsenal lacked someone to pick the ball up and drive forward. They were trying to be nice and pretty but they didn't have anyone like Paul Pogba who could drive forward with the ball.

United had so many more options going forward than Arsenal. Arsenal had a lot of the ball but didn't cause them any problems. United went forward at pace and they deserve to go through.

    Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd

    Phil Neville
Ex-Man Utd and England defender on BBC MOTD

Paul Pogba was brilliant in the second half, that drive going forward, Arsenal didn't have that. I thought there was a gulf between the two teams tonight.

At the start people accused Ole of winning easy games, then he went to Tottenham and won. The players that were not performing under Jose are now performing the way we knew they could.

  17. 'Tremendous United'published at 22:03 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2019

    Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd

    Ian Wright
Former Arsenal & England striker on BBC One

Manchester United look like different players. The way they are playing, they couldn't have been enjoying it under Jose Mourinho at the end.

We're seeing tremendous performances. Arsenal were trying to score a perfect goal but they just needed to get the ball into the box more. I was thinking at some stage were Arsenal going to drop back a bit but it never happened.

They did deserve it tonight United, it was a poor performance from Arsenal.

  18. 'I want goals and assists'published at 22:03 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2019

    Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku to BBC Sport: "[It looks like fun to play in this team?] It does it does, We had clear direction today and I'm really happy with the win and the manner in which we played.

"I just take it a day at a time. I work hard in training and it paid off today and we own. Now it's up to me to keep working and help the team with goals and assists.

"The guys just have to put the ball in the back of the net! I always wanted to be a player who can do both, score goals and get assists.

"Look at the history of the club, we make a statement whereever we go. We look to dominate and create as many chances as we can."

It was a brilliant performance from United. I think what we have seen from Ole is that it's more than just giving people love it is about tactical awareness. The two substitutions at the end there sealed the game, brilliant performance from United.

  20. Postpublished at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2019
