  8. Party like it's 1949...published at 22:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2019

    Newport 2-0 Middlesbrough

  9. 'We never coped with it'published at 21:57 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2019

    Newport 2-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis: "They were the better team, they ran all over us. It was men against boys. Forget the conditions, you have to match people and that's the real disappointment.

"Give them credit, they were fantastic tonight and they deserve their win. The tempo of the game was really poor from us. I am desperately disappointed at the lack of real commitment. We were outfought and outplayed.

"We've been fantastic away from home this year. They have regularly turned up and put in performances but it's different circumstances tonight and we never coped with it."

Pep has a MASSIVE problem - losing to Newport is not an option, so does he play his 'A' team and hope they can cope with Rodney Parade or does he go with a 'B' team, bearing in mind that the title run-in is just starting to warm up ? Also needs to make sure they go to Newport, Gwent rather than Newport,Salop!!

I think Andrew O'brien @ 9-31 must have a pretty fast car if he thinks it is only 3 hrs from Middlesbrough to Newport. I live 15miles from Middlesbrough and it is at least 4hrs 30mins from Darlington.

The answer to the question at 21.32 would be an average of about 77mph.

  12. 'Nothing more than we deserved'published at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2019

    Newport 2-0 Middlesbrough

Newport County boss Mike Flynn: "It's nothing more than we deserved tonight we were absolutely outstanding. We should have had a penalty and should have scored more than twice too.

"At half time I told them, 'you are going to get another opportunity.' We had created too much not to get another one. We stuck to our game plan. Boro changed their shape a few times which shows how well we did.

"Robbie Willmott was outstanding. An old fashioned winger, he is very versatile, he's an outstanding talent and he should have played higher in his career.

"They can match Championship players. I don't know what it is with them. We can play like that but not every week in League Two."
