Could Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain make the difference towards the end of the season as he comes back from his long term injury?

Liverpool never replaced Coutinho, if they did, they would've still been a few points clear. They don't have any midfielders that pose a goal threat, there's far too much pressure on the front three. You stop them, you stop Liverpool.

  2. No-one wants 'rivals to win title'published at 18:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2019

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Everton defender Michael Keane tells Sky Sports: "I think it was a fair result, not too many chances were created by either team. The fans were brilliant today and got behind us from the warm up. They are difficult to play against, press well but we defended as a team and stuck in it when under pressure.

"The fans give you a massive lift when they are like that, making us put a challenge in. It is a shame we could not get a goal."

On the tackle on Mohamed Salah: "I tried to keep a line to play offside so I ran back in and took a chance by lunging in and luckily got the ball.

"It is a big build-up to the game, every one asks about it and it is a massive occasion. You have to focus on your job when the whistle goes.

"I don't think anyone wants their rivals to win the title. We respect them and the team so it is up to them what they do. We played our part by trying to stop that happening."

Alex Smith: Virgil van Dijk is possibly the best centre half I've seen the last 10 years. A monster in the air, tackles everyone and is a passing machine, unreal! And that's as a United fan.

LFCWay: Had Salah been at it, Liverpool win this game 2-0. Had the better chances. Take a point and we see what happens at the end of the season. Up the reds!

Imran Sheikh: Really disappointing result from @LFC, external today. Desperately needed the win. Klopp's substitutes were not the best. Keita and Shaq should have come on

  4. 'We are still in the title race'published at 18:20 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2019

More from Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, speaking to Sky Sports: "I felt we created a number of chances. We defend really well as a team.

"Manchester United away and Everton away are tough games, you are not going to win 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0 every week.

"We have to take the positives and keep going. We are still in the race.

"We want to win away at Manchester United and Everton, but we've got a point at both games. There is a lot of football to be played, a long way to go. I have got a lot of belief in this team."

  5. 'Two points dropped'published at 18:16 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2019

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Chris Sutton on BBC Radio 5 Live 606:

Clearly it is not a good point. They had chances to win the game, Mo Salah didn't have his shooting boots on and it is two points dropped.

Liverpool don't quite have the creative quality to win in those sorts of games, whereas Man City do. Another £700m might do it!

Ignoring how rubbish the team (except for Alisson) played today, this result is on Klopp. When you have a bench with the attacking potential that Liverpool have, and then don't even put one of Keita/Shaq/Studge on, you are not making positive substitutions. Irritating, to say the least.

  7. 'We need to be more clinical'published at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2019

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, speaking to Sky Sports: "Obviously we are disappointed because we wanted to come here and get three points.

"But we knew it would be tough and frantic. I felt we created enough chances to win. We defended well but of course we are disappointed because want to win every game. We just need to be a bit more clinical."

  8. 'We go again'published at 18:13 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2019

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk tells Sky Sports: "Yes of course (we are disappointed). We deserved the three points and it says a lot that they are celebrating. We had chances to win the game and did not finish them off. We go again.

"I like these kind of games and we came here for three points and did not get them. It is time to recover and be ready for the next game.

"We focus on our next game, everyone wants to be top of the league and we cannot change the situation at the moment."

Can we now call Klopp's Liverpool 'bottlers' or is that just a tag that is only applied to Tottenham?

    Bob

Klopp's got his team selection all wrong today. No quality through midfield. Henderson and Gini don't have that forward nous. Keita should've started. So simple.

  10. Everton give Liverpool bloody nosepublished at 18:10 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2019

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Former Everton winger Pat Nevin on BBC Radio 5 Live:

The Everton fans watched their team battle and fight today and they have given Liverpool a bloody nose. Manchester City will benefit from that. They watched their manager adapt their tactics as the game went on. Liverpool have dropped two points here, they weren't at their best and couldn't finish the big chances that fell to Salah.

Liverpool are only a point behind, it remains a very close title race.

But Liverpool were seven points clear not so long ago.

  15. Mental tiredness for Liverpool?published at 18:06 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2019

    Everton 0-0 Liverpool

Former Everton winger Pat Nevin on BBC Radio 5 Live:

How many times have we seen a bad piece of control from a Liverpool player? It has happened to Salah time and time again. They are just not quite at the races today. I think it is mental tiredness as well as physical tiredness.

If Liverpool don't win, then it will be the first time since Friday 7 December (so 85 days or almost three months) that they have not been top of the table having played the same number of games as Manchester City.

Obviously City have been top since then, but only through having played more games...
