Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to Match of the Day: "It was a very hard result, but the performance was incredible. We defended perfectly the set pieces into Andy Carroll and Michail Antonio. That was fantastic, but we missed the chances.

"Had we scored one or two in the first five minutes the game would have been completely different, but we did very well.

"The game became a little bit flat. We started the second half really well. We just didn’t score enough goals to make the last 15 to 20 minutes a little bit more relaxed.

"We fought a lot to be close to Liverpool. The result could be better, but the way we played is fantastic.”

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri speaking to BT Sport: "The performance was in line with the last one and fortunately the result was different - but the performance was very similar to the one against Man City.

"Pedro is a very important player for us, he is very dangerous, he scored and he's very useful also in the defensive phase to balance the team."

On his relationship with the players: "I was sure before the match. I was sure my relationship with my players is really very good and in the last month better.

"Caballero is a good goalkeeper with great experience and he's a great man for us, he's very confident on the pitch and in the dressing room.

"We need consistency, we played very well in the final, it was disappointing the result but we were confident because it was a high-level performance."

Trent Alexander-Arnold has become just the fourth Liverpool player to register at least three assists in the same Premier League match after Stan Collymore, Vladmir Smicer and Alberto Aquilani.

West Ham United

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini, speaking to Match of the Day: "I’m very happy with how the City fans received me. I’m very pleased with what they said.

"I’m not happy with the result because it was not a penalty. Bernardo Silva threw himself down when he felt a touch. Lanzini had the same thing but didn’t go down, so the referee didn’t whistle.

"The first intention was to play with Marko Arnautovic, but he woke up sick this morning. With three fast players in attack I felt we could have done more damage.

"The penalty was decisive for the result."

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne: "We played well, but the only thing we didn’t do is score enough.

"I think it’s game management. I don’t think West Ham created one chance in the whole game, but we didn’t score enough.

"In the first five minutes it could be 3-0 for us. The first 85 minutes we created so many chances, so in the last five minutes we just had to see the game out and win."

Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri speaking to BBC Match of the Day on his decision to drop Kepa: "It was really very easy because Kepa made a big mistake and then paid with the club. In this match he has to pay for the team. It was only a message for all the team, the dressing room, we are a team - not 25 individuals. Now we stop the question, it is behind us and in the future Kepa will be with us.

Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino speaking to Match of the Day: "In the small details we lose. We made mistakes and lost the game, that is why we are disappointed, we weren't capable of playing our way.

"Chelsea had one shot on target and one goal and we didn't shoot - its difficult that way to win and we weren't solid enough. In the small details the result was decided for Chelsea.

"The competition will put us in our place. It's a 10-month competition, not just three or four months. We are disappointed now.

"After Burnley I said it was difficult, and tonight makes it impossible to fight Man City and Liverpool.

"Only they can win the league - we must fight to win games and to be fair."

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri told Match of the Day: "It was not enough. we tried our best but every time we have to say the same thing. The first time in front of goal, the opponent scored.

"We have to continue to fight until it is mathematically impossible, and also after. The confidence is not at the maximum level and it is not easy to react but I want them to react soon."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson: "We were comfortably beaten in the end. I give the players credit because they didn't fold at 2-0 down and we played quite well. At 2-1 we were having a go and had high hopes but we were caught on the counter.

"We weren't good enough to take anything from the game, there's no point worrying about ifs and buts. Everyone has ifs and buts.

"When you have to put so much work into every game to get something out of it like we do these three-game weeks are hard when you haven't got the biggest squad."

Liverpool

More from Virgil van Dijk speaking to MOTD: "It was great to score in front of the Kop and to keep a clean sheet was even more important.

"We kept pushing and motivating each other to score more and more. To get a chance for Divock Origi is amazing. He was lively and he was involved. I am very happy for him to get a goal."

Manchester United

Manchester Unied boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "I was always wary of this game after the tough run of games we have had but we started really well which is always vital at Selhurst Park.

"Luke Shaw is in a good vein of form at the moment, he's hard to stop and it was a great drive for the first goal. Lukaku has been putting a shift in for the team, doing loads more running than he normally does but he was a number nine again today and he got two goals. Fantastic.

"Jimmy Garner is in the mould of a top top central midfielder so he will come good. We will see him again soon."

Liverpool

Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk: "It was a little bit special obviously but from us it was a great performance overall. We dominated and played well.

"It is very nice to be on the score-sheet as well. Trent [Alexander-Arnold']s crossing and delivery is top class. He has been showing it already throughout the season and tonight to get three assists is special.

"We can't do anything with people's opinions on the race. We just need to focus on the games that are ahead of us.

"We were all ready and up for it. We wanted to show our fans that we can play like this all season. We enjoyed it.

"I'm not worrying about anyone else apart from what is in the dressing room. I am just enjoying it."

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "It's a great away win. We controlled it well. That's a few away wins on the bounce, Fred and Scott McTominay haven't played much and we got another debut for one of the kids coming through too in James Garner.

"It's Manchester United, we do have a quality squad and quality players and we will continue to bring players through. Every team in the league will have injuries at this time of the season.

"Lukaku had two good goals and his link up play was very good too, he is working hard in traning and has been playing well. He's had to play wide for me and had many defensive duties so I'm happy for him playing as a number nine.

"It's always good to see players taking their chance. that's what it's about at this club, when you get your chance, grab it."
