England manager Phil Neville speaking to BBC One: "We’re where we want to be. I think we’ve seen tonight Lucy Bronze is the best player in the world, without a shadow of a doubt – with her athleticism and quality. There’s no player like her in the world. Lucy Bronze announced herself at the last World Cup and she has to deal with people knowing her game.

She showed why she is the best right-back in the world.

She loves a challenge, tell her 'you are the best, now you have to be the best player in the world' and she rises to that.

I knew Lucy would take my place in the team and I give her a huge pat on the back for that.

  3. 'All the passion came out in that strike'published at 22:50 British Summer Time 27 June 2019

    Norway 0-3 England

England right-back Lucy Bronze speaking to BBC: "It was a comfortable game, even out of possession, we were comfortable. They had good chances but defensively we were so solid. We were clinical and found the gaps in their defence while our defence stayed strong.

"It always seems to be against Norway [she also scored against them at the last World Cup]. I've been dreaming of getting to the semi-final in Lyon. All the passion came out in that strike.

"I was practicing that one this morning. I did a few shots like that. Practice makes perfect."

The England sub had tweeted the festival organisers earlier in the week to ask them to show the match on the big screen for her brother.

"He mentioned over breakfast about getting it on there and I thought I'd put out a tweet but didn't think anything would happen.

"Those thousands of people have now seen us do well so hopefully they'll support us again on Tuesday."

"We were brave in playing in tight spaces and stuck to the game plan. It was exquisite to watch. We could have had a few more opportunities. It was a very convincing win. They took Australia to the dying moments and penalties. I’m so pleased we won in the way we did.

"I’m so proud of these girls. We keep building momentum and facing new challenges and overcoming obstacles. I’m very proud of these girls and they’re chomping at the bit to reach the semis

"I don’t care [who we play in the semis]. I just want to play. I’m ready. Let’s go."

  15. 'The ball never got tired'published at 22:23 British Summer Time 27 June 2019

    FT: Norway 0-3 England

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, England manager Phil Neville said: "That was the best they have played under me. We keep saying we are having fun and they are playing like it. Yesterday, I knew we were going to win this game because of the look in their eyes and the 11 that didn't play were driving it.

This is where we want to be. Some people back off when they get to this stage, and maybe it's an English mentality, but not this group of players. Whether it's this year or next, success will come their way because they are a fantastic bunch.

"We paid respect to Norway but we are the third best team in the world and we have confidence in our own ability. We heard how they were going to outrun us and we stuck to our plan and passed the ball and the ball never got tired tonight."

Asked on his preference for the semi-final: "It doesn't matter, they are both fantastic teams and it will be an unbelievable occasion for women's football and my players are ready."

Nikita Parris is the second player to have failed to convert two Women's World Cup penalties - but the first to do so in the same edition.

Mia Hamm missed in 1991 versus Japan and in 2003 versus Norway. Parris' other penalty miss coming against Argentina in Group D.

It was a great save for Nikita Parris' penalty, knowing her she will want to take the next penalty again and I hope she has confidence to do that.
